Got a recorded call saying my TalkTalk internet would get cut off today unless I pressed 1 to chat or 2 to talk to the cancellation team! I just hung up straight away.

someone rang me claiming to be from bt openreach, saying there was an issue with my phone line. i hadn’t noticed any problems or put in a fault report though. he asked if he could link a bt server to my laptop for some checks. i told him that seemed risky and asked for his phone number so i could ring back. he said he gets why i was wary but insisted it was the only way to find the problem.
