Got an email today from [email protected] saying I owed £225 for my Amazon Prime subscription. Total scam, don’t fall for it!

Like you said, I got one of those emails about renewing my Amazon Prime. Thing is, I pay every month and the £305 charge didn’t add up since it’s not a yearly split properly. So, I got a bit wary. The email came from some Emily Watson but the email looked weird - [email protected] or something like that. Also the phone number linked was 01233280944. Seems fishy to me.

Received an email claiming to be from 'Amazon', stating that my membership cost was £259 and that I needed to ring this number to cancel it. Clearly a scam!

Got an email supposedly from Amazon about my Amazon Prime Video being activated and £225 debited from my bank. I called my bank right away, and they told me no such money had left my account. They also warned me not to share any personal info, which I didn’t. I checked my Amazon account and there was no sign of anything being set up. Proper sneaky scam. I worry about older people falling for this kind of thing as they’re likely more vulnerable. Always best to google the phone number before calling back - that’s how I found out it was a scam.

Received an email claiming my Amazon Prime Video was activated and £225 taken from my card. I contacted my bank immediately after seeing the message, and they confirmed no money was withdrawn. They also warned me not to share any personal or bank info, which I didn’t. When I looked at my actual Amazon account, nothing new was added. It felt like a proper scam, really sneaky. I worry about older folks falling for this stuff. I made sure to google the phone number before returning the call, that’s how I knew it was a con.

Got an email supposedly from Prime Action thanking me for renewing Prime Video. I told the bloke on the phone I didn’t even have it, then he kept pushing if I wanted to cancel. Said they could sort it but I'd have to pay a one-time cancellation fee. I told him I’d ring up Amazon myself later and that I’d contact the police if necessary. When I spoke to Amazon, they confirmed it was a scam and advised me to delete any cards linked to my account.
