So, I got a call from someone claiming I needed to pay an extra charge to register my website. They said it was an annual fee, which normally was included in the hosting cost, but now had to be paid on its own. When I told them that nobody actually pays that, they just ended the call straight away. Total scam if you ask me.

Absolute jokers. They called about selling domain names but I didn’t even hear about the price before I knew something was off. They insisted they’d set up one of my domains initially... no way, I sorted that out myself. When I called them out on it, they just launched into a sales spiel, so I just ended the call.

So this bloke from thebtgroup got in touch... claimed I’d registered a domain with him, which I honestly never did and when he asked me to check online, nothing showed up. He said my rival was retiring (which he’s not) and had domains for sale. Like, who sells their domains separately? They’d probably stay with the business. Total rubbish if you ask me.

This one’s definitely dodgy, just like mentioned earlier. They said a rival is quitting soon, which isn’t true, and that they’d been handling my stuff for ages, which they haven’t at all. Total scam.

My coworker got a call from someone saying if I didn’t ring them back straight away, they’d pull my website offline. It was from Namesco, I think.

Got a ring from this number claiming to be my web host, but there was music playing in the back like on some dodgy sales call. The guy sounded pretty cheeky and not professional at all. Definitely not my domain provider. I asked him straight up what he wanted and then just hung up.

I had a really unpleasant experience with someone who said they were from 123 Reg. The way they spoke to me was so cheeky and unpleasant, it’s a shock they think anyone would fall for their scam. Honestly, I can’t imagine anyone actually getting tricked by how rude they were!

What a rude and pushy scammer! Honestly, I struggle to see how anyone falls for this lot when they speak to you so aggressively. They rang up, pretending to be from some website domain or hosting service. Seriously, don’t bother answering - total waste of time!

What a total rip-off this is. I got a call from a bloke claiming that one of my rivals was stepping away and ‘giving up’ some web domains. Thing is, I know the guy well and he’s nowhere near retiring, plus he’d never just hand over domains if his firm was still up and running. The firm on the phone were completely dodgy, just straight-up lying. They tried to push me to buy two domains at £250 each. While chatting, I quickly checked GoDaddy and found both were available for under a pound. They even had the cheek to say my web developer had registered my site with them and this was some kind of ‘welcome’ offer. Problem is, my site and developer have zilch to do with them. My advice? Avoid these scammers like the plague.

A guy named Stephen rang up my workplace, saying he knew my manager. When I told him my manager wasn’t around, he got really aggressive, insisting he was meant to call at 11 am about a project in Ipswich. I asked for his mobile number but refused to give mine without checking first. Then, Stephen just shouted and dropped the call. I used 1471 to find his number and spoke to my boss, who said it was fine to share the mobile number. I rang Stephen back but he was still very rude. I gave him the number and he spoke to my boss. Turns out, IT’S A COMPLETE RIP-OFF! Stephen was pushing domain names that were actually going for 99p but he wanted £800, saying he’d stop our competitors from buying them. He even claimed that if my boss hung up, the call would automatically transfer to rivals. Absolutely shameless and disrespectful bloke - massive scam alert!

I got a call asking for my managing director, so I asked who was calling. The guy said Stephen from Romford, but when I asked for more details, he got really annoyed and just hung up on me. He was trying to act like he knew my boss to get me to put him through.

I called to find out more and got an extremely rude, pushy bloke who was obviously lying - just like our clients said.

Avoid him at all costs.

I got a call from someone called Stephen who said he was from a different company trying to reach our clients, but it felt off, like a scam. What made it worse was when I reported it - their boss kept calling Stephen horrible names like "faggot lips" over and over, then mentioned he might get the sack. Honestly, they just treated the whole thing like a joke, which was pretty disrespectful.

He kept asking for my co-worker and refused to talk to me. Then he started going on about how he could just hire another firm to handle the job. So I told him, fine, go ahead and do that. After that he just ended the call on me.

Really cheeky bloke. Claimed he had a meeting scheduled with us that was never actually booked. Tried to sort things out calmly, but he just got really nasty and then slammed the phone down, cancelling his supposed “appointment” which obviously didn’t exist. If you try calling back, it just goes straight to voicemail. He also refused to tell us his name even after being asked several times.
