The line just went dead, no reply at all. I reckon these callers are trying to catch you off guard by the way you sound. Honestly, the safest bet is to treat every cold call as sketchy and just put the phone down straight away. Don’t feel bad about ending a chat with strangers who ring you out of the blue. And yeah, while someone joked about a more extreme reaction, simply hanging up is plenty enough!
