Saw the number had a Carlisle area code, but I’m actually about 30 miles away from Carlisle. When I answered, it was some recorded message mentioning debit cards, so I hung up right away. Dodgy call as usual. I don’t pick up any unknown numbers, it’s just not worth the hassle. Whenever I get these, I make sure to report them straight away to the Police’s Action Fraud team, hoping they can put a stop to these scams.

Got a random call with an automated message from a woman speaking with a British accent. She said something like: "Alert! There's been a suspicious £600 transaction on your debit card abroad. Press 1 if you recognise this, or 2 to speak with the fraud team. Your card will be blocked until you confirm." Classic scam trying to freak you out about your card being blocked. Just hang up and block the number, it's nothing but a phishing attempt.
