Yesterday, I received a call on my landline from a gentleman who had a decidedly foreign accent - definitely not from these shores! He claimed to represent HMRC. Almost immediately, the chat took a dismal turn as he began throwing around accusations of tax evasion, suggesting rather dramatically that I could find myself behind bars soon! I had my suspicions from the outset that he wasn't a legitimate HMRC employee, yet it was still an extremely uncomfortable experience overall.
