Someone said they were from d and g but when I asked about renewing, they just put the phone down. I actually have insurance with them and when I rang to check, they told me they don’t do renewal calls since it’s a monthly rolling contract. A few others mentioned the same thing to. Definitely sounds like a dodgy scam to me.

Got a call earlier saying my warranty was up and they’ve stopped automatic renewals, so I needed to confirm stuff on the phone. The chap then wanted my bank sort code and got really put out when I said I don’t hand out that info over the phone. Then he passed me to his “Manager” who asked for my account number. I repeated, a bit annoyed now, that I don’t share that kind of info and then he just hung up. Can totally see how folks might fall for it though.

Just like everyone else, it was about insurance for my washing machine. The bloke slipped up when he mentioned my fridge and cooker were covered too. Just like everyone else, got a call about my washing machine insurance needing to be renewed. At first I paid attention since I actually have insurance with D&G and assumed it was them calling. But the moment I told them it wasn’t up for renewal, they hung up. Turns out they call themselves DAG, which sounds almost the same and is probably meant to confuse real D&G clients.

My parents received a call from someone pretending to be from Domestic General, insisting that their washing machine insurance was up for renewal. The caller had a Jamaican accent. When my mum handed the phone to my dad, the caller suddenly hung up. It's clearly a scam. I strongly advise against sharing any banking information with them. I attempted to return the call, but they’re not picking up. Best to stay away from these kinds of calls!

Got a call claiming the warranty on my dishwasher ran out yesterday. I asked what brand it was and he dodged the question, saying he couldn’t see that info on his screen, only the expiry date. When I asked where he’d got my number from, he got a bit snappy. Told him to buzz off and not to bother calling me again.

A bloke called Jonathon rang me saying it was about the monthly premium for my home appliance insurance. For the nth time, I told him I DO have a policy, but he hung up before I could finish. I asked them ages ago to take me off their list, but clearly that didn’t happen. Reading the other comments, it’s obvious these are scammers looking to rip people off. I’m surprised they don’t bother hiding their number with ‘withheld’ or ‘private’. If everyone knows these folks are dodgy, why hasn’t Ofcom shut them down yet?

I got a call from a young lady who already knew my name and address. She said my washing machine insurance was about to expire tomorrow and asked if I wanted to renew it for one or three years. I told her I hadn’t even got any insurance on the washing machine, then she just hung up on me.

Got a call at my job from someone saying my washing machine insurance was up, which was odd since I still wash clothes by hand and never share my work number with those types of businesses. I requested to talk to the data controller but after waiting on hold for nearly half a minute, the call just cut off. Tried ringing back but all you get is stuck on hold forever.

Watch out, it's a scam! Got a cold call about paying for washing machine insurance. The person said they were from “DAG” but trying to sound like D&G. Since I already have multi-appliance cover with D&G, I told him and he hung up straight away. They weren’t clever enough to block their number either, showed up on 1471. They even knew my name, which was a bit creepy.

Got a call from this number claiming to be from D & G, trying to sell me washing machine insurance renewal. When I asked for the full company name, he said "Domestic and..." something, but definitely not General. I told him I'd ring back later. He gave me a number, 0203 8134869, but he seemed to have trouble saying it properly, so I reckon he just pulled it out of thin air. Said his name was Billy, by the way.

I’ve put Domestic and General on the TPS list now. These lot keep ringing me from loads of different numbers - but it’s the same lot every time. One of the numbers is 01227809119 and another is 02038073972. They keep talking about warranties or insurance for appliances, but honestly, I’ve never signed up for anything like that. It’s getting really annoying.
