Some bloke rang up claiming I was entitled to a free boiler, said it was some government scheme for pensioners. I questioned why during a pandemic they’d be handing out boilers instead of, say, face masks or gloves. He got rude and hung up on me. Then he called back today pretending my husband had set up an appointment to check for solar panels. Told him we already have solar panels, so his story was rubbish. He hung up on me again. I’ve blocked the number now.

I received an unsolicited phone call from a rather elderly-sounding lady today. She informed me about a government initiative aimed at replacing gas and oil boilers, suggesting that we might be eligible for some sort of grant. Honestly, we’re not in the least bit interested. What’s more, our landline number is ex-directory, yet somehow she knew our names! How peculiar!

so frustrating! this bloke’s so full of himself, rattling on about some ‘government funding scheme’ like it’s gospel. swears up and down white is black. complete stranger ringing me out of the blue, clearly has no clue about GDPR, TPS, or any of the rules about cold calling. total pain.

I picked up thinking it'd be a local call I'd been waiting for, but it turned out to be some bloke in a very loud call centre. He was trying to tell me about a Government scheme to help with replacing gas and oil boilers, which apparently are being banned by 2030. It's been all over the news lately! He said I could be eligible for this grant. Strange thing though, he didn’t say anything about the free solar panel inspection they also offer. I've added the number to my blocked list along with all these dodgy calls.

This number keeps ringing multiple times, bet they use a computer to make the calls. If you do answer, sometimes there's a voice, other times not. I reckon they do this just to mess around and waste your time. Best thing to do is block it or answer and just leave the phone off the hook silent for a bit - that way you're wasting their time instead. Once I picked up and it turned out to be a scam, something about insulation I think.

How on earth does this ‘business’ profit if they don’t actually have a chat or ask you to ring back? They really should be shut down and stopped from setting up new scams like this. Is this maybe a phone connected to some internet service or accommodation? Has anyone actually managed to speak to the person behind the calls to check if it’s a scam?

The phone rang about 4 times before i answered, but as soon as i could tell it was a call centre i just hung up. Feels like they might be bugging people.
