I received a rather dubious call from these folks - initially, it was an automated voice claiming to be from HMRC, stating they attempted to send me a letter that was apparently returned. They mentioned something about me being involved in "Criminal Damages" related to my tax affairs and then connected me to a real person. From the get-go, I had my suspicions; it was clearly a call centre, and I could hear others prattling on about unrelated topics. I inquired about a service number, which is usually a smart move in these situations, as genuine representatives would readily provide it, whereas scammers often falter and hang up. So, that was that!
