They claimed to be from the postcode lottery and rattled off all the usual info, just like you see on telly. Then they asked how old I was, like that was important. Next thing, they tried to get me to hand over my bank info. I told them their folks must be really embarrassed by the rubbish they’re pulling. And then, of course, they moved on hunting for the next person to scam.

My elderly mum got really distressed because this number kept buzzing her phone repeatedly, sometimes from different numbers too. The way they spoke was really pushy and rude. Honestly, these folks are just awful, and I can't get why these kinds of sites aren't tracked down and closed for good.

PLEASE READ. I genuinely won £7000 on the postcode lottery about six years ago. But today’s call was nothing like how the actual postcode lottery informs you. If you’re a player, smaller prizes like £10 are automatically paid into your bank account. Bigger wins are usually handed out at a shindig in the Vale Hotel function room. Even during Covid, they’d send you a cheque. Don’t hand over your personal info - they already have it. I had a bit of fun pretending to be a confused old lady on the phone for a good twenty minutes before telling them to take a hike!

Lately, we’ve been getting these calls more and more often, especially after my missus accidentally picked up one from an unknown number. Normally, we only answer if we know who’s calling and let the machine take over otherwise. But she was nervously waiting for a hospital to ring her back, so she grabbed the phone.
