Trying to get older people to pick up calls is risky, plus they keep getting random numbers popping up on their mobiles all day. I ended up blocking the number for them since when they picked up and asked to be taken off the list, the callers either promised to do it or just hung up abruptly.

So this woman rings up and says, “Can I speak to XYZ?” (not my actual name) I go “Yeah, that’s one question already.” Then she goes, “How are you?” I said, “I’m good, that makes two questions.” She started her spiel and I asked, “How many questions you plannin’ to ask?” She said, “Three.” I was like, “Alright, you’ve done two so one more to go.” After a bit of me pointing out she’d already asked two questions, she just hung up. Honestly, it was quite amusing!

I'm pretty sure they pulled my name from my old energy company (Spark) since my surname is a bit unusual. When I first set up my electric, they messed up spelling it, and the guy on the phone just now was double checking my surname letter by letter. My phone lit up with a bright orange warning saying 'POTENTIAL FRAUD'. I picked up to find out what it was about - turned out to be a survey! I told them straight up to stop jabbering, that I’m not interested in any surveys or sharing info with people whose number is flagged as potential fraud and calling me randomly. The caller showed up as being from Barnsley, Yorkshire, but as soon as I picked up, I got put through to someone who sounded like they were in India, based on the accent. It was a telemarketer, saying good afternoon at 10 in the morning! They're just fishing for your personal info to pass on to other cold-callers. Best to just ignore these calls!
