I had an alarming call the other day from someone claiming to be from Ofcom, insisting that my internet was on the verge of being shut down within 24 hours due to a hacking attempt. They urged me to press 1 on my phone to 'speak to an agent'. Naturally, I did, and they assured me that someone would ring back the following day to run through some checks on my connection. Quite unsettled, I decided to reach out to my actual internet provider, who swiftly reassured me that my service was secure and advised me not to share any personal information with these callers. When I tried to return the call to the number 01226 247875 that had reached out to me, I was met with an eerie silence on the line. Quite suspicious, if you ask me!
