7 yearsLately, there's been this annoying cold call scam going around where someone rings you up pretending there’s a bogus car insurance claim, saying you or someone in your family has been involved in a crash. With more folks catching on to these calls whether on their mobiles or house phones, these scammers keep coming up with sneakier ways to trick you.7 yearsI told them I don’t own a car and asked when this supposed incident took place. I kept insisting that since I don’t have a car, there’s no way it could be me. When they kept pushing, I added that I haven’t left my home in months, so it just can’t be me. I tried to cooperate and kept answering their questions. Eventually, they dropped the whole car accident angle and asked if I needed help with anything else, like injury claims inside the house or something. That’s when I acted all surprised and asked if this was just a cold call. They ended the call after that.7 yearsToday I got a pretty strange call. I’d rung a car dealership earlier on my mobile to ask about a vehicle they had up for sale. Later, I got this dodgy call - one of those scammy ones claiming I’d been in an accident. What’s odd was the caller, who had an Indian accent, started by saying “I'm ringing from Victoria Motors’ claims team about your recent accident.” That’s the exact same firm I’d phoned just an hour before about the car. Makes me wonder if someone’s somehow monitoring my phone, cause how else would they know I’d just contacted that company?Victoria Motors7 yearsLoads of folks have gotten calls recently about fake car crash incidents, saying they might be able to claim some money. These cold callers seem like they're trying to help when you answer and hear about your possible payout. But honestly, that's the moment to flip the situation around. If you haven’t ended the call straight away, try asking them specifics - like when and where this accident supposedly happened, who was part of it, and why they’re only ringing you now after all this time?7 yearsgot a call from some person saying there was a car crash and kept pushing me to confirm it. i just said it was a load of rubbish and told them to buzz off. not sure what date they were on about.Submit Your Own Report (01226 127402)
