Had a dodgy caller claiming to be from the technical support team at BT Openreach! They were insistent about sending someone round to my place to supposedly enhance my broadband speed. What a load of nonsense! Straight on the blocked list!

So the number 01224582908 rang me on the 28th of April 2018, I picked up but there was just silence before they hung up. Felt very dodgy, looked like one of those fake BT Openreach calls about my router supposedly being on the wrong frequency. A couple days earlier, I got a call from someone called Charlie who spoke with an Indian accent. I called him out straight away, told him he was trying to scam me and a few other things, then he just ended the call.

Got called from 01224 582908, looks like an Aberdeen or offshore number, and they've rung me about six times already! Half the time it's just dead silence, other times some bloke with an English-sounding name but really a thick Indian accent pretending to be from outreach. Last time I told them to wait a sec while I ring BT outreach myself to see if there's any issues with my internet. Said I'd keep them on the line and use my mobile for the call. Wouldn’t you know it, they just cut off straight away. Bit dodgy if you ask me.

Got a second call from this number today but no-one said anything on the line.

About quarter of an hour ago, I got a call from a bloke claiming to be from BT Openreach, saying my router was causing my internet to slow and my signal wasn’t as strong. He spoke like some other people have mentioned before, a guy with an Indian accent or something like that. When I told him I was a bit tied up and couldn’t chat on the phone, and asked him to send me info by post instead, he abruptly hung up on me. His tone got a bit louder too, which was weird.

Got a call from 01224582908 around 00:58. There was a bit of silence at first, then a man with an Indian accent spoke up, saying his name was Colin Anderson. He claimed to be ringing from BT Openreach. I told him I was actually in touch with trading standards, and he hung up straight away.

So, these engineers rang me saying they had to upgrade my broadband speed. I was knackered and nearly fell for it. Luckily, I had to dash to work, which seemed to annoy the bloke quite a bit. He kept trying to get me to use TeamViewer, but it didn’t click with me at first that this lets them snoop on your laptop. I reckon they wanted to keep an eye out for when I logged into my bank next. Be careful with calls like this, they’re sneaky!

I picked up and there was no sound, then the call just dropped. Seems like some sort of robocall. I figured it might be from the company I’m dealing with, so I tried calling back but both my mobile and landline showed the number as invalid. Pretty sure it’s not legit.
