I received a call from someone purporting to be with the Telephone Preference Service, and they wanted my membership number, which is actually my credit card number. They even assumed I was my mother, who unfortunately fell victim to a scam just last week while I was at the office. Not sure if it's the same number as before, but it feels very dodgy. Stay alert, everyone!

‭01224 459833‬ Rings my elderly relative I care for multiple times a day, about 5 times, always asking for her long dodger card info. Total SCAM! I ended up talking to a woman who called herself Jess, seemed to have an accent, and when I said no way was I giving any info, she got really mad and claimed she was told by BT that my relative needed her service. The funny thing is, she isn’t even a BT customer. Later on, someone named Pete who said he was the manager phoned, pushing for details again. Seriously, just ignore these calls!

Got three calls all within 15 mins earlier. Told them straight the person they wanted died about 10 days back. Still kept ringing, proper harassment that is. Totally wrong behaviour.

They rang me three times in like 30 minutes, saying they were from some refund company. First time I told them straight up they’re dodgy and ended the call. Second time I didn’t even bother talking, just cut the call quickly. The third call I answered but all I heard was them saying goodbye and then nothing else. Definitely felt like a scam.

This phone keeps calling me super early, and I’m sure it’s a scam. An Indian bloke rings up and asks for my TPS membership number - turns out that’s just my debit card number. I’m already signed up with TPS, so why aren’t OFCOM or anyone else sorting this out? Wonder who’s footing the bill for these firms, because surely tracking them down isn’t that tricky. It’s really sad to think about anyone vulnerable having to deal with this kind of harassment.

Today I got a call from this number, and an Asian woman on the line told me I was owed £100 back from some call blocking service on my phone. I didn’t stay long on the call, just hung up straight away because it felt fishy, probably trying to nab my bank info. What freaked me out was that she actually knew my name. Got a call earlier from someone claiming I was an Iain Anderson. I told him straight away I wasn’t this bloke. Then he said he was from the TPS and insisted I was indeed Iain Anderson - which is nowhere near my actual name. When I asked who he thought he was, he started swearing and shouting all sorts of names at me. I just played along, asking if he could come up with worse insults because what he was saying was pretty boring. I even joked about whether he’d had enough rest or maybe needed a cuddle from his mum. That’s when he abruptly ended the call. What a lovely fella.

Got a call at 8:09 this morning from someone claiming that they owed £100 to the woman I look after. I told them the number is registered with the Telephone Preference Service, and they just hung up. Some guy rang me, introducing himself as Pete at first but then switched to Jake when I wasn’t cooperating. He claimed he was from the TPS and needed to check my membership number, which I’d already given them a few weeks back - but that wasn’t right, obviously. They called again because the numbers didn’t match up or something was off. When I asked him for more info, he just didn’t have a clue. Then I told him why, and he started threatening to disconnect my phone, saying he worked for BT and could do it. Proper dodgy.

I found the BT Call Guardian phone really helpful for blocking these annoying calls. Ever since we got it, only the people we know manage to get through. Before we had it, we were getting nearly 24 calls every day, which was driving us nuts most of the time. Definitely worth getting if you’re fed up with constant calls.

I got a call from a young woman claiming she was from some call blocking company. She insisted I’d been signed up since 2015 and wanted my visa debit card info to “confirm” this membership. I told her straight up I’ve never joined anything like that and called her out as a scammer. I even asked how she could live with herself doing this kind of job. She started getting really aggressive and threatened to take £150 out of my bank account, saying I’d notice it on my next statement. These awful calls need to be stopped - they’re really unsettling.
