Someone called pretending to be from BT, even though that’s not the company we use. They said since we’ve been with our current line for years and always paid on time, we could get a 35% discount. BT called me saying they could lower my bill (was a bit suspicious). I played along for a few mins and gave my address, but then I mentioned I’d moved recently - didn’t seem to bother the guy at all. He asked what my first initial was for “security” reasons, but I told him I don’t share personal details over the phone. I was getting annoyed by then and pointed out it sounded like a scam. He denied it, so I asked if this is when they just hang up. There was a short silence and then he whispered a quick goodbye and disconnected.

Got a call from someone claiming to be BT with a "fantastic discount" offer. They already knew stuff like my postcode and phone number, but only had my first initial and last name. When they asked what the "G" stood for, I lied and said "Bill" instead of Brian - and they just went along with it! After that, they tried to verify me by asking for my bank sort code and other details. Obviously, I didn't give it to them. They told me to call 01444 300055 back. I told him I was with Virgin, but he acted like it didn’t matter. I said I’d just go and have a word with the folks working round the corner, then he just cut me off. Voice was an Indian guy, and he even used my name! Not sure what the deal was but felt a bit dodgy to me.

This number rang me early one morning around 7:47 but when I picked up no one said anything. Then later that same day they rang again asking for my husband and told me to pass the phone to him. When I asked who they were they just hung up on me. Quite annoying really.

I got a call from someone with an Indian accent claiming to be from BT. They said they were doing some work to improve internet speeds in my area and even mentioned a street close to where I live. They knew my name and my internet provider too. The caller offered to boost my internet speed at no cost and told me to install Teamviewer. I realised that software lets the other person control your PC! I quickly ended the call and got in touch with BT, who said they hadn’t made any calls to me at all.

He rang me up once more claiming to be from BT Open Reach Internet support. I asked if he was phoning from Aberdeen, but he said no, he was from Bow Road, London. I told him my internet was working fine, but he insisted it wasn’t. Then I started saying his phone number out loud and he suddenly cut the call.
