They said it was a recorded call from OFCOM, but I wasn’t convinced.

Got a call from a recording claiming OFCOM was going to cut off my internet. I just hung up straight away, didn’t buy it for a second.

Got a recorded call supposedly from Ofcom, saying there’s an issue with my broadband and it’ll get disconnected within a week if I don’t act soon. They told me to press 1 or 2 to fix it. Sounds like a scam just to get me to ring some premium number and waste my money.

My mum, who’s 81 and pretty sharp, got a call from an automated voice saying it was BT, warning about a hacking attempt on our broadband. It asked her to press 1 or 2, but since we actually use Sky, she wisely rang me straight away. I reckon if she’d pressed anything, it might’ve taken her through to some expensive premium line. Glad we didn’t get caught out as we’ve no connection with BT at all!
