I received a rather suspicious automated message claiming to be from BT, delivered in a distinctly English female voice. The message went something like this: “This is an automated communication from BT. Your internet service has been compromised and is about to be terminated. To resolve this matter, please press 1.” To be frank, I’ve had my fair share of these dodgy calls and ended up hanging up. Furthermore, I have doubts about the legitimacy of the number that appeared when I dialled 1471; it doesn’t seem to be a proper Cambridge number at all.
