Got a call early this morning, about 8.15am, from someone claiming to be HMRC saying I owed tax and needed to call them back. It was some automated message but spoken by a bloke with a fancy, very official-sounding voice. I know HMRC don’t actually ring you up like that though, and they’d always mention your tax code in the call to confirm who they’re speaking to. Definitely a scam.
