I had a rather alarming phone call from a woman claiming to represent HMRC. She strongly advised me to seek legal counsel due to the gravity of the situation. A gentleman then took the line and informed me about my entitlements under the rights act, issuing stark warnings about potential imprisonment. He went on to say that my assets could be seized and that I would face a credit ban for the next seven years. Quite unsettling, to say the least!

This is just awful. How can anyone use threats in a phone call to get you to respond? Leaving a voicemail about legal action is just disgusting. From what I know, HMRC always get in touch through letters. I tried calling back to give them a piece of my mind, but no one picks up at the Cambridge number, and the one for Sarah Wilson is dead. Honestly, I hope they don't pick up when I call back - they’d have a lot to answer for.

If HMRC need to get in touch, they’ll always send a letter to your home. They won’t ring up asking for personal info or payments - never. Anyone who answers these calls is just asking for trouble. HMRC won’t do anything about these calls, it’s not on them. These are scammers from abroad. TPS can’t help either since the calls come from outside the UK. The real problem is BT, who are letting criminals rent UK phone numbers. The 01223 code belongs to Cambridge, but the caller definitely isn’t based there - probably hasn’t a clue where Cambridge even is!

Had a look at this page first, so I just let it keep ringing without picking up. I can't block the caller as my phone company makes me pay for blocking numbers. If it was really HMRC, they would have sent something through the post!

Same as loads of other people saying about this number, its an automated call, someone called agent wilson or something. Why is it so hard to track these numbers down and get the scammers caught?

My lunch break got completely wrecked after I got this horrible threatening message, especially since it was supposed to be from HMRC! I double-checked if I was still on the TPS register, but seems like the call back scam is a sneaky way to trick honest folks. A mate at work told me about this site to look up numbers, the comments here are quite a relief to read. Feel a bit calmer now. Number’s blocked and all. Ms. Properly Annoyed!

I was proper worried at first, wondering why HMRC seemed to be after me. I looked up Sarah Wilson and scoured the HMRC site but couldn’t find anything. Cheers for sharing your posts about this. I’ve gone ahead and deleted the message now.

Got a call from some Office of Sarah Wilton HMRC saying it was really urgent and warned me not to ignore it. They made it sound super serious, like it was about pension stuff HMRC watches. Feels like a total scam, probably illegal. Best thing is to just hang up and report it to the proper government folks.

I got a call from someone saying they were from HMRC. It was a recorded message by a lady with an American accent, calling herself Agent Sarah Wilson. She said not to ignore the message. When I rang back, a man with an Indian accent picked up and said HMRC were looking into me for tax fraud. I told him that couldn’t be true and asked how he even knew it was me. He couldn’t give any specific info about me. When I said HMRC should have details if they’re really investigating someone, he just went quiet and hung up.

Just got a call from someone claiming to be HMRC, telling me to ring them back straight away. Definitely a total scam. Honestly, the police really ought to step in and deal with these fraudsters once and for all. Well done for warning everyone!

Got a voicemail from someone claiming to be HMRC, saying I owed some crazy fine. Honestly, best thing to do is just hang up or ignore it completely. These scammers are just vultures, trying to take advantage of decent folk. Total rubbish!

Michael Parker or John Parker, whatever name they go by, were total scammers. They came at me super aggressive. Then, outta nowhere, I got a call from the local cops saying I was under arrest! Madness.

I got a call from someone saying they were Officer Sarah Wilson from HRMC, but it sounded like an American robotic message. I was a bit suspicious, so I decided to look it up. Glad I did, as I found these posts and realised it was probably a scam. Cheers to everyone who shared their experiences! I've gone ahead and blocked that number now.

Got a call from some American woman saying she was with HMRC, left a voicemail too. I didn't trust it so I just deleted the message and blocked the number straight away. Later, when I checked online after work, turns out loads of others got calls from that same number. Just knew it was a scam. So annoying!

You can actually get an 01223 96 #### number through Skype. Honestly, wouldn’t shock me if these sleazy scammers have grabbed one. It’s owned by Microsoft anyway, so doubt they’re bothered. Absolute scumbags these fraudsters. Also, Android Wilson is spamming from 02037691019, so make sure you block that too. Remember, HMRC won’t threaten you over the phone - they always send official documents first.
