Got a call asking me to verify a £900 charge on my Visa Debit - definitely a scam, nothing to do with my bank. Watch out, these fraudsters are at it again!

Got a call saying I owe HMRC and that a warrant will be put out for my arrest unless I hit 1. Total scam, don’t fall for it!

Got a voicemail from someone pretending to be HMRC about tax fraud. They said if I didn’t press a key right away, I’d be arrested. This is the second time this week I’ve had a call like this. Obviously, I didn’t press anything and haven’t been arrested yet. Since I have no reason to think I’ve done anything dodgy with my taxes, I figured I’d check online and share what I found.

I keep getting texts saying my internet is going to be disconnected. They say they're from TalkTalk's tech support or something. Super annoying.

I just went through exactly that! Honestly, this is a proper scam and they ought to be stopped right away.

Somebody rang claiming to be from Sky, talking about insurance stuff. Since I don’t even have Sky, I just did my usual trick with dodgy calls and asked them really politely, "Are you a scammer?" The bloke was quiet for a few seconds, then asked me, "Are you a woman?" I kept telling him to answer my question first, but he just kept asking, "Are you a woman?" over and over. This funny back-and-forth went on about six times before he abruptly hung up. I reckon he took being called female as an insult or something!

This bloke rang me pretending to be from Sky, talking about some insurance thing. I’m no Sky customer, so I went with my usual trick for dodgy calls and asked him nicely, "Are you a scammer?" He went quiet for a bit, then popped the question, "Are you a woman?" I kept saying he should answer me first, but all he did was keep asking, "Are you a woman?" We went around like that about six times until he finally lost it and hung up. I reckon he thought calling someone female was an insult or summat!

Some bloke rang about my SKY subscription renewal. When I said I wasn’t with SKY, he just told me to "shut the F up." Proper rude!

I had some muppet ring me up pretending to be from Sky, talking about this equipment insurance nonsense. It's a classic scam, really. Managed to keep him on the line for nearly a minute just to wind him up a bit. When he mentioned the equipment, I went, “What equipment exactly?” Then I told him, “Funny you mention that, considering I don’t even have Sky. Quit wasting my time and piss off,” before slamming the phone down.

Some bloke named John rang me about some Sky breakdown insurance. I asked him how he even got hold of my unlisted number and told him I don’t even have Sky. He then told me to buy one and basically told me to stick it where the sun don’t shine. I told him to send me one to his place and I’d be happy to return the gesture, but he wasn’t up for that. I really don’t get why these sharks are allowed to keep doing this, there should be a proper place to report these scammers.

Just got a call from someone saying they're with Sky, offering some kind of equipment breakdown cover. Seems like a proper dodgy scam to me, watch out!

Oh great, another one of those Sky kit insurance rip-offs. They claimed they're ditching direct debit and to renew, I need to pay by phone - £99 for a year, £150 for two. What a bargain, right? I told them to just cancel it. Then the woman said there’d be a cancellation charge, probably trying to intimidate me. I wasn't having any of it and let her know in no uncertain terms where she could stick it. Blocked them straight away.

Got a call from "Jason" too. Suspected it was some scam from the start, so I just went along with it. I kept super polite until it came to handing over money, then I started saying all sorts of rude stuff. Fair play to him, he didn’t just cut me off even after I called him out. When I asked about paying online, he told me Sky’s website was having maintenance or something.

I got a call from someone called ‘Jason’ who had a strong South Asian accent. He was asking about breakdown cover for my Sky stuff, which I don’t even have. When I told him he must’ve dialled the wrong number and sounded a bit annoyed, he just cut me off right away. Total scammer if you ask me. Best to just block that number straight away.

I got a call from someone saying they were from Sky, telling me my insurance for the Sky box was about to expire. Thing is, I don't even have insurance on my box. They gave me a number to call back, 0208 089 0896, and said to ask for Jennifer Williams. The number that appeared on my caller ID was 01223 931132. The caller didn’t even know my name. I decided to ring Sky directly to check and they told me straight away it was a scam.
