They rang me two times (26 & 28/9/17) on my work phone while I was away on holiday - looks like others here have had the same thing. Maybe they got an ‘out of office’ message or something? If so, they’re not just scammers by phone. I missed the first ring, and the second time the connection was poor and they just hung up. I've blocked the number now.

They seemed to know my name and address, claiming something about a warranty for my washing machine. I insisted they must have mixed up their details since I don’t have any insurance. Clearly, this is just another dodgy scam!

I didnt pick up as it was my work phone and ive been on hols. They called a few days in a row even tho i had an out of office on. Was a bit suspicious since it’s a Cambridge number and i live nearby. Happy i looked it up here before calling back.

Got a call around 10.30 this morning but didn’t pick up. Did a quick search since I used to live in Cambridge a few years back, turns out the number’s linked to J Ball & Sons at Sunningdale Fen Rd. If anyone knows Sunningdale caravan site on Fen Rd, it’s the dodgiest place in Cambridge, so I’m not shocked this number’s part of a scam. If they ring again, I’ll ask if my folks can patch up my driveway, haha!

I received two calls from this number today. I inadvertently picked up on the second attempt, but there was absolute silence on the other end. My phone still indicates that the number is logged in. What steps should I take?

Got a call from this number saying i have insurance and they were going to reactivate it from last year. I said i dont have any insurance, but the person argued saying i bought the machine last year. I told them that wasnt possible coz my mum was the one who got it. Then they just hung up on me.

Here’s a quick heads up: Never pick up unknown calls! Don’t share your personal info with strangers! Keep your bank or building society details completely private! And if you do answer one of these annoying calls by mistake, just tell them to do one! They’re a bloody nightmare!

I've submitted a report, but I'm feeling a bit lost regarding how to disengage it from my phone. I answered the call, but there was silence on the other end, and now it's somehow linked to my device. Could you lend a hand in figuring out how to disconnect it? Cheers!

Just like everyone else here, I got a call saying my washing machine warranty was up. Thing is, it was for my mum's place and I've never even got a washing machine. I told them that and they just ended the call straight away. Seriously, trading standards should really step in quick on this!

Got a call from these jokers while I'm chillin on holiday trying to convince me to get washing machine insurance. Told em I don't even own one, I just wash my clothes in the stream with some rocks lol. They keep calling back but I just hang up every time. Seriously, find a real job or something, I've got ages to mess about with this. Sitting here with my pint, having a right laugh!

Got a call today from this number, someone saying they were from a home appliance insurance firm, telling me my policy was about to expire and they needed to update my payment info. I told them I wasn’t comfortable giving my details over the phone and that I’d contact the company directly. They sounded pretty convincing, but after looking into it, it turned out to be a scam!

Got a call from 01223 853549 earlier today, missed a call from them yesterday as well. They asked me if I had a birth certificate, which seemed odd, so I just ended the call. Feels like one of those dodgy scams trying to trick you into saying yes so they can somehow get access to your bank details or something like that.

Some bloke called himself "Jeremy" and said my washing machine insurance needed renewing! I told him that's odd cos I haven't even got a washing machine. He just laughed and said if that was funny, he'd be chuckling, then he hung up. What a daft lad!

This number rang my elderly folks and pressured them into handing over their debit card info. When they said they didn't want the washing machine insurance, the caller insisted they’d charge them regardless! This chap seemed to know my name and where I live. He mentioned something about a warranty for my washing machine that's supposedly expiring next week. I had to inform him that he must be mistaken, seeing as I just purchased a new machine this year. Seems like another dodgy scam to me. He introduced himself as Liam, but I'm sceptical that his name is even real!

Got a call pushing washing machine insurance, so I was pretty blunt and just ended the call. But he rang me like 3 or 4 times real quick after that. I just cranked up me radio to full blast and left the phone next to it till he gave up. Honestly, best not to pick up, these are proper scammers!

Same as the others. They keep ringing about some washing machine insurance. I already paid it back in July, but they keep asking me to pay again. Just missed a call from them a few mins ago, but they also called yesterday. When I told them I'd already paid, they started arguing and then just hung up on me. Even though I've blocked the number, they called again today!

I had a similar experience with someone claiming to be from DAG. The guy said he already had all my details and just needed to verify my debit card info because they supposedly couldn't keep it on their system. I knew my payment wasnt due and figured it was paid through direct debit anyway. I told him to ring me back because I was busy at the time. He did call again but I didn’t pick up; he left a voicemail with a phone number. Definitely looks like a scam to me, I’m gonna get in touch with Domestic & General to check if they’re aware of this.

Got calls twice this week about some insurance that ran out back in October 2016. Spoke to two different folks who kept trying to find out the brand of my washing machine that was supposedly covered. When I told them the make, one was like, “Oh, so you have two?” Erm, what’s that got to do with you lot? Blocked the number, but they rang again. This time they said, “Oh, there’s a few new people making these calls.” Told them straight up that the washing machine is long gone and buried.

This bloke had the audacity to address me by my name, which I found a tad unsettling. When I responded, he informed me that my washing machine's warranty had expired. I quickly pointed out that this couldn't possibly be the case, as I'd only recently secured a four-year warranty. It all smells a bit dodgy to me; feels like they're trying to pull a fast one.

Got a call from someone claiming to be Domestic and General sales about renewing washing machine cover. I said we don’t have it and aren’t interested, and the guy told me not to be rude and threatened to charge us regardless! When I pointed out that would be illegal and asked for his name, he gave a name that seemed made-up and then hung up. Rang D&G myself and they confirmed it was a scam, they’re trying to get the number blocked now.

nathan coombe from sterling businesses ltd has shut down several businesses over time! theres a fake fb page with loads of likes but hardly anyone ever comments. he sells ebay accounts which breaks ebay rules and could get buyers into big trouble with ebay. he uses loads of different names like nathan, mr nate and now mr jones. his name sounds like sterling business but thats actually a totally separate firm. honestly, theres so much more to this mess!

I just received a call from this number a mere five minutes ago, but it was oddly silent, leaving me hanging before the line went dead. I decided to use 1471, noted the digits, and rang them back. To my surprise, I was greeted by an answering machine in an American voice instructing me to hold for the next available agent. The excruciatingly annoying hold music drove me to end the call! Clearly, it wasn’t anything of significance!

I picked up a call from this number, and the bloke mentioned my name, even confirming my address. He went on to ramble about my washing machine and claimed that the warranty had expired. I let him waffle on, fully aware it was all a con. After stringing him along for a solid 20 minutes, I finally revealed that my washing machine had no warranty and suggested he find a proper job instead of conning people. It turned into a bit of a slanging match before he exploded and slammed the phone down-absolutely hilarious! I tend to toy with all these scammers; it really winds them up and gives them a taste of their own medicine.

I just got a call from someone named Jack Scott on this number who said my washing machine insurance was nearly up for renewal. When I told him I hadn’t paid for any insurance using my Visa card, he just ended the call straight away.
