Got caught out by a scammer trying to pull a fast one on me.

Got a call from this number earlier, and some guy with a thick Asian accent claimed he was calling from BT’s internet team. I told him straight up, “Yeah, sure you are, we both know that’s not true.” He kept insisting he was with BT, so I just repeated myself. Then he lost it and told me to shut up, calling me “extremely f####g rude.” I couldn’t help but laugh out loud at him. Guess we’ll see if they bother ringing back.

I picked up the phone, but there was silence for a bit before i heard someone say "goodbye" and then the call ended.

I received a couple of calls from this number on the 20th and 21st of Monday and Tuesday, but they didn’t bother to leave a voicemail. Since I don’t have a clue who it is, I chose to ignore the calls and didn’t return the call either.

just a quick note before you comment - the woman mentioned is actually my wife and yes, our phone number’s been “spoofed.” basically, someone picked our number out of thin air and is using it as their caller ID to make it seem like it’s a genuine uk landline, so folks are more inclined to pick up. the calls aren’t actually coming from our phone. i’ve contacted ofcom but these calls might be originating from anywhere around the globe. unfortunately, there’s not much we can do about it - really sorry if it’s caused you any hassle, but honestly, it’s way more of a pain for us.

Got a call from a local number, sounded like one of those annoying 'bt internet' voices, probably a scam or some telemarketer. Proper irritating!

this number is a total con, they claim your internet is at risk. they usually pretend to be from bt or sky, dont fall for it. both men and women call, often with indian accents. the best thing is to just hang up straight away. also heads up, they keep ringing non stop, sometimes every 30 mins or less, so if you can block it, best do it quick!

I noticed two missed calls from this number earlier, so I rang back. A woman picked up and asked if we’d been contacted by that number before. When I said yes, she explained that their phone had been cloned and it’s been used to flood people with loads of annoying calls. She was really sorry about it, then ended the call.

I didn’t recognise the number and it didn’t leave any voicemail, so I just ended up blocking it.
