A number rang up saying it was about my credit. I ignored it and wouldn’t recommend picking up if you get called from this one.

I got a call from an Asian-sounding person who called me by my name. They claimed to be with some “credit management services.” I asked them to say the company name again, but when I mentioned I’d look them up online since I’d never heard of them before, they just hung up on me.

watch out, it’s a scam! you should always report any suspicious calls or texts to the police’s fraud team. just google ‘action fraud’ and head over to the ‘police.uk’ website. find the section for reporting phishing and scams, give it a read to understand what info they need. then fill out the form with the details of the scam, including any website or link addresses you got. you don’t need to sign up or share personal data. reporting these things is really important so the police can get a better idea of how big the problem is.

Got a call from someone with an asian accent who knew my name, saying they were with some ‘credit management services’. I asked them to repeat the company name, and then mentioned I needed to look them up online since I’d never heard of them before. But as soon as I said that, they just hung up. The number showed up as coming from the Cambridge area.

I got a voicemail earlier from someone impersonating the HMRC. It's astonishing that there are individuals who make a career out of such deceitful practices. Can you imagine getting up each day to con others? It's honestly rather pitiful, to think that's how some choose to earn a living.

They rang me again tonight and I picked up. When I asked for the name of the company director, and told them I was on the TPS list, they just cut me off.

They should put ads in a crime watch mag to call out fake local tradies and share reliable contact info instead. Funny though, cause the mag itself never comes out - bit like the pot calling the kettle black, innit?

got a voicemail from someone pretending to be hmrc. they said theres a warrant out for my arrest and told me to ring back. honestly, if there was a warrant, i'd expect the police to come round or at least speak to me directly, not some automated message! loads of folks have reported this same number too, sounds like a nasty scam meant to scare people. no idea what happens if you actually ring them, but i wouldnt risk it!
