Earlier today, I received a rather suspicious call from someone claiming to be from BT Internet, alleging that my internet connection had been compromised. The issue is, I don’t even have BT as my service provider! When I queried how they had obtained that information, there was an awkward silence before they simply regurgitated their initial statement. At that point, I decided it was best to end the call. Curious, I attempted to ring them back, but all I got was a robotic voice stating that “extension number 8006 is currently not available, please leave a message after the tone.” I tried again thrice, and it was the same monotonous outcome each time. Quite the dodgy operation, I’d say!
