Definitely some kind of rip-off.

Had a dodgy phone call the other day. The chat was utterly bonkers!

I just had a rather dodgy phone call from an individual purporting to be from BT Technical Support. They alleged that they had detected some nefarious activities linked to our IP address and tried to hoodwink me into granting them access to my laptop to supposedly divulge information about the alleged culprits. They even presented what seemed to be a convincing BT email, trying to convince me to enter a two-step verification code to reset my BT account. The longer the conversation dragged on, my doubts escalated, and I eventually made it clear I was about to hang up, at which point they promptly terminated the call! This is definitely not how BT operates based on my previous encounters.

Got a call today from a different number saying they were from Microsoft. But the moment I answered, the person was speaking with an Indian accent and I couldn’t make out a word. Actually, they already started calling me yesterday from another number, so seems like they’re just going round calling people in different countries all day.

On the 26th of September 2023, around 1.09pm, I got a call on my landline. The number showed up as 01223 503 556. It was a young guy, sounded Asian and said his name was 'Jonathan'. He claimed to be from MICROSOFT and asked if I was the primary user of our office computer. When I told him there are multiple users since it’s an office setup, he swore a quick curse word and then hung up straight away. Honestly, these sorts of calls are really sketchy and feel like they have dodgy motives. Stay careful with people like that!

Got three calls in about ten minutes just after eight this morning. Each time they kept pushing even after I said I wasn’t interested in anything to do with Microsoft. On the third call, I just hung up. Really don’t need this kind of hassle first thing in the day.

Got a call from a number I didn't know, so I let it go to voicemail. No message was left, which was a relief. Decided to look it up here just to see if there were any earlier calls. Pleased I didn’t pick up.

I got one of those classic Microsoft scams the other day, so I just ended the call straight away. Then, out of nowhere, the bloke called back from 02088884635 and actually had the cheek to ring me up again asking why I’d dropped the call, before telling me to get lost. What a nutter!

I picked up and simply said hi. Then, after a moment of silence, the person on the other end said they were from Microsoft. I just ended the call. Later, I looked up the number and wouldn’t you know, it was marked as a scam.

Got loads of calls from some bloke saying he's with Microsoft, proper rude tone. They kept ringing from another number after I blocked the first. Best to just not pick up and forget about it.

I received a call from someone who seemed to know my last name, which set off alarm bells. They had a slight American twang and insisted they were calling from Microsoft regarding my computer. It was clearly a scam, so I decided to hang up pronto!

The number seemed dodgy right from the start, so I answered with a weak and hesitant “hello...” but the cheeky lot just ended the call straight away. Was hoping to keep them chatting and kill some time, but I guess they’ll ring back another time 😎

This number has been ringing me and somehow they already know where I live. They started swearing at me and making threats, saying things about harming me and my family. They've even threatened to set my home on fire and do awful things to my wife and daughter. I've already contacted the police about it.

I picked up the phone and the person claimed they were calling from Microsoft. Before they could finish, I cut them off saying there’s no way Microsoft would be phoning customers out of the blue. They kept going on about some big issue and insisted they do call people. I told them no, if Microsoft needed to get in touch they’d send an email, not ring randomly. Then I mentioned I don’t even use a Microsoft PC, I’m on Linux. They tried to argue that I did have a Microsoft machine, but by then I’d had enough and rudely said goodbye before hanging up.

As soon as my answerphone kicked in, the person on the other end just hung up. Looks like one of those scam calls, especially after checking out what others have said about this number and similar ones. I've blocked it now to be safe.

They kept insisting they were from Virgin and wanted to discuss problems with my account. When I asked them which office they were calling from, they gave me my OLD London address, but that place is under construction right now. I called them out on it, and then they just cut me off! Watch out for this kind of thing.
