3 yearsDefinitely some kind of rip-off.3 yearsHad a dodgy phone call the other day. The chat was utterly bonkers!3 yearsI just had a rather dodgy phone call from an individual purporting to be from BT Technical Support. They alleged that they had detected some nefarious activities linked to our IP address and tried to hoodwink me into granting them access to my laptop to supposedly divulge information about the alleged culprits. They even presented what seemed to be a convincing BT email, trying to convince me to enter a two-step verification code to reset my BT account. The longer the conversation dragged on, my doubts escalated, and I eventually made it clear I was about to hang up, at which point they promptly terminated the call! This is definitely not how BT operates based on my previous encounters.BT Technical SupportBT3 yearsGot a call today from a different number saying they were from Microsoft. But the moment I answered, the person was speaking with an Indian accent and I couldn’t make out a word. Actually, they already started calling me yesterday from another number, so seems like they’re just going round calling people in different countries all day.Microsoft3 yearsCalled, went straight to voicemail and no message was left.3 yearsSaid they were with Microsoft or something like that.Microsoft3 yearsOn the 26th of September 2023, around 1.09pm, I got a call on my landline. The number showed up as 01223 503 556. It was a young guy, sounded Asian and said his name was 'Jonathan'. He claimed to be from MICROSOFT and asked if I was the primary user of our office computer. When I told him there are multiple users since it’s an office setup, he swore a quick curse word and then hung up straight away. Honestly, these sorts of calls are really sketchy and feel like they have dodgy motives. Stay careful with people like that!JonathanMICROSOFTOffice3 yearsThese lot are just scammers, no doubt about it. Before they could finish, I cut them off saying there’s no way Microsoft would be phoning customers out of the blue. They kept going on about some big issue and insisted they do call people. I told them no, if Microsoft needed to get in touch they’d send an email, not ring randomly. Then I mentioned I don’t even use a Microsoft PC, I’m on Linux.
