Received a call, labelled as spam, but out of sheer boredom, I decided to answer it in my most refined accent and play along for a bit. They claimed I was drowning in crippling debt and that if I didn’t sort it out, I’d lose my house by the end of the day! Crikey! I kept putting the caller on hold, and it got to the point where she was rather flustered. I gently reminded her, "You haven't even bothered to ask for my name, nor have you verified any details. All you've done is request my bank card information. I'm simply passing the time while this call is being documented for the police as part of an investigation." Rather amusingly, she panicked and promptly ended the call!

I received a rather anxious-sounding young lady on the end of the line who introduced herself as representing a firm that sounded like "(couldn't catch the first part) consultancy". Now, without so much as verifying my identity, she launched into a pre-scripted message about some supposed car accident I had been involved in that was "not my fault". I promptly informed her that this was not the case, and requested to be taken off their calling list. To my surprise, she promptly disconnected the call. Just so you know, this was on my mobile, a number I seldom share and isn't listed anywhere.

I got a call from a nervous sounding young woman who said she was with some sort of "(missed the first part) consultancy". Since I'm on the lookout for a job and often talk to new recruiters, I kept listening. Without bothering to confirm who I was, she jumped right into, "I hear you were involved in a car crash that wasn’t your fault." I said no, I hadn’t, and asked her to take me off their list. She just disconnected straight away. Funnily enough, she rang my mobile, which I barely share and isn’t listed anywhere.
