6 yearsI received a rather dodgy call earlier today. A woman I had never spoken to before suddenly seemed to know my name and mentioned something like, “I’m afraid that the payment didn’t process...” It set off alarm bells for me, so I promptly ended the conversation. Thankfully, they haven’t attempted to call again.6 yearsI got a call from someone claiming to be from a survey firm, saying I might get some money back from an old PPI tax thing. They asked loads of questions and, freakily, already seemed to know all my personal info. Really made me suspicious.6 yearsGot a call recently like everyone else here about a supposed tax refund linked to some PPI thing. They seemed to know quite a bit about me, but wanted me to verify some info too. Then they asked for my National Insurance number, and thats when I got really suspicious. I said no way I’m giving that out on the phone. They went on about sending me an email instead... well, I’m still waiting for that one!National Insurance6 yearsGot a call saying it was about some PPI claim with Barclays, and they told me hrme had no right to take money from me. Seemed a bit fishy to me.6 yearsI picked up but there was silence, nobody said a word.6 yearsgot a call from someone pretending to be from the tax office, kept threatening me with court if I didn't pay up right away. total scam.Inland Revenue6 yearsi got a call from someone saying hmrc had grabbed 20% of my ppi refund and that i could get it back. she seemed to have my details already but then asked for my national insurance number, which i said i couldn’t remember (though i actually did). i wasn’t keen on giving it out so told her it wasn’t a problem if i lost that 20%. she kept pushing and said she’d ring me again on monday. i’ve gone ahead and blocked the number now.HMRCNational Insurance6 yearsThis lady said she was from some solicitors trying to help get money back from HMRC. She asked for my house number and stuff. When I started asking her more about what she was doing, she seemed really lost and then just ended the call on me.HMRC6 yearsI got a call from some bloke with a northern accent. The moment he started on about some money I supposedly owed, I just cut him off with a quick "no, no, no, goodbye" and ended the call. Honestly, he dodged a proper Anglo-Saxon swear word - didn't deserve any nicer treatment from me.6 yearsGot a call from some bloke with a thick northern accent, couldn’t make out most of what he was saying till he mentioned I was due some cash. Didn’t bother listening to the rest of his rubbish and just hung up. When I checked the number, turns out it’s one of those scams about unpaid PPI claims. Honestly, they must reckon we’re gullible or daft. They really should be banned and face some proper legal action quick.6 yearsGot a call from 01218275693 saying I was due a tax refund from HMRC. Does anyone knows what the deal is with this?6 yearsSomeone rang me up claiming I had money waiting from an old PPI case and wanted details like my job address and how much I earn. I told them I’m not comfortable sharing that stuff on a call and asked them to send all the info through the post instead. Not sure if I’ll get anything, but we’ll see!6 yearsReceived a call from someone named Nathan Butterworth who said he was from Survey Confederation Services, working with Goldman Nightly Solicitors. He didn’t ask for my bank details or anything too personal, only my NI number - which I refused to give. I told him to ring back in 10 minutes so I could find it, but that was just a fib while I checked up on them. Turns out... This lot, Survey Confederation Limited, seems linked to Harringtons Advisory again. The ex-director, David John Grimshaw, is involved and apparently they've been unlawfully sharing data to push a new PPI cold call scam! Now they're charging a crazy 39% plus VAT to recover overpaid tax. Watch out for calls from 01617682507 and 02081674956 and definitely report them. They insist they have a right to the data but that’s simply not true.
