These days I just don’t pick up calls from numbers I don’t know. I jot down the number and look it up on this site, then if it seems genuine I ring back. Also, does anyone else find it annoying how this site won’t save your cookie settings? Keeps pushing me to click ‘Accept all’ every time like it’s a trick or something. Feels a bit dodgy to me.

So I had my answerphone on and got a call from some lot pretending to offer things like insulation or even the Covid jab, but really they just wanna find out where you live. They're after your info to either rob you or sell it on to sketchy sites on the dark web. If a number looks dodgy and you don’t know it, just don’t bother answering or talking to them - hang up straight away!

The bloke on the phone rattled off my address and name straight away. When I asked, he said he was ringing from some overseas firm in the Philippines trying to sell loft insulation. I told him I don’t have a loft, and he just hung up on me!

Since the number was unfamiliar, I just let it go to voicemail and didn’t bother leaving a message. If I’d realised it was one of those insulation scams, I’d have done like a mate of mine who played along, pretending to be interested in getting his loft insulated before revealing it’s actually a flat down in the basement.

We got a call from someone saying she was an Energy Saving Advisor for our area’s postcode. She spoke with an Asian accent which was a bit hard to catch what she was saying. She kept saying she wasn’t there to sell us anything. I reckon it was probably a dodgy scam.

It was pretty clear this was a scam. The caller struggled to say their own name right, there were awkward silences before they replied, and their thick accent made it tricky to follow what they were saying.

Got a ring from this number about a free loft insulation check. They claimed to be local, but why’s the number from Birmingham then? I asked for their company name, and they mumbled something like APB Insulation, but their strong accent made it hard to catch properly. I told them our loft’s already fully insulated, but they kept pushing anyway. I ended up stalling, and I could faintly hear someone telling the caller to wrap it up. In the end, I wasted nearly three minutes of their time, hopefully stopping them from conning some other poor soul.

Got a call from what sounded like a robot, voice was decent but definitely not human. Seemed like maybe they used some sort of translation software. Had this call on my phone earlier that showed up as Halifax, but it was just some con artists. Later, they even sent a text telling me to call a number to fix my account because supposedly someone was trying to hack it. Honestly, scammers like that should find some proper work instead of trying to steal cash from others. What a bunch of muppets!
