I keep getting calls from this number, but whenever I answer, the person just says bye and then ends the call right away???

Somebody rang me claiming to be David from the “gov grants dept” or something like that. Honestly, who just gives their first name only and says they’re from a place that doesn’t even exist? It’s clear they think folk like us are daft enough to fall for it. I reckon they’re just preying on vulnerable people who might not spot the nonsense. Watch out for these scams!

Got a call from some bloke claiming to be Sam with a weird accent, saying he was ringing from the Eco Centre about energy saving. He even used my name! Normally I’d check but I was waiting on another call so I just hung up quick. Definitely felt like a scam to me.

Had a bloke with an Indian accent ring me up, said his name was "James" (as if, more like Sanjay or something). These lot seem to be everywhere these days, making their country look bad with all these dodgy scams. He was pretending to be from some "Government department" or whatever. Complete con, nothing but fraud.

These dodgy scammers rang up asking for my date of birth and bank info, claiming I had more than £2500 in PPI owed. I just told them to jog on!

I'd highly suggest not picking up if this number calls. Just block it straight away to dodge any dodgy scams. It's safer to be cautious than end up regretting it later.

Answered the phone and there was just silence, figured it must be one of them call centres. Used 1471 to check the number, then looked it up online and came across this site. Pretty handy stuff, cheers for that. Rang 1572 and blocked the number straight away.

Got a call from someone with a strange foreign accent, asking for a particular person. I told them that wasn’t me, but they just kept going on like it was. When I repeated that I wasn’t the person, they insulted me with a nasty name before I even had a chance to tell them to buzz off. Total scam!

So, this happened on Wednesday afternoon, 9th November. Got a call from a guy who actually knew my name, asked if my boiler was older than about 4 or 5 years. Told him it's only 3 years old. He then quickly said “oh, sorry for bothering you” and just ended the call. Seems like it was probably some boiler sales pitch?

Called my mum who’s 94 and she couldn’t understand the bloke’s foreign accent at all. But somehow he knew her name. Mum said she’s in a warden controlled flat and any problems are handled there, then the caller just hung up.

I received a call from someone claiming to represent Black Horse Finance, asking for my banking information regarding a PPI claim. They were requesting my card number, which raised a few red flags.

This lad sounded asian and his English was proper dodgy. He kept going on about me supposedly owing more than £2000 'cos they supposedly got my PPI sorted. He wanted my name and old address to 'confirm' or something. I told him to quit wasting time and find an honest job instead of trying to scam folk like me. Then, just like that, he ended the call on me.

Got a call from someone claiming to be Black Horse saying my loan was accepted and asking for my bank details so they could transfer the money. Never applied for any loan and don’t even have an account with them! Told them nicely to buzz off and then blocked the number. 😂

I said I preferred a cheque but he said that wasn’t possible. Then he asked for my bank card number, saying they'd "oatmeal" my card or something like that. This Scottish bloke kept insisting on speaking with a manager he named, claiming he’d previously worked for him and wanted to reconnect. Thing is, that manager has nothing to do with the company at all. He was really pushy and wouldn’t take no for an answer.

Got a call from this number earlier today saying my PPI claim went through and that the money would be paid straight into my bank. They kept saying they wouldn’t need my bank details but then strangely asked for my bank card info. I told them to email me the info instead, and got an email supposedly from Blank Horse Finance, but it was sent from a dodgy gmail address. Definitely a scam.
