A woman with an accent I couldn’t place called up askin’ for me. When I asked who it was, she said Nationwide Building Society and asked if my postcode was still BL5 2HP. That used to be my area nearly a decade ago. As soon as I told her I didn’t live there anymore she just ended the call. Bit odd really, given I do have an old Nationwide account with just a few pennies in it.

The automated call hung up the moment I said I hadn't been in an accident. I was curious about who was behind this annoying call, which I'd received a few times before, so I replied yes and got passed on to some guy. When I asked who they were, he said Alpine Service and mentioned a street number, 56, but I didn’t catch the street name. I said, "I just got a robocall pretending to be your 'colleague' - isn’t that meant to be against the rules?"

Got a call from a woman saying I’d been in a crash and the other person was making a claim against me, but apparently it looked dodgy (dodgy according to who??) and she wanted my info to challenge it. I haven’t had any sort of accident, even a small one, for more than a decade, so it was clearly a con. Told her she was a fraud and ended the call. The same number rang back just a few minutes later - now blocked for good.

Got a call from a firm named ALPINE. It sounded totally like one of those pushy scam calls, they kept saying "We've been told you were in a car crash." Told em to take me off their call list, they went quiet for a sec but then kept grilling me about when the accident happened. When I insisted again to be taken off, they just cut the call straight away. Blocked the number after that.

Just a heads up, don’t mix them up with Alpine Insurance Services Ltd in Hadleigh Ess#x - they’re a well-known, trustworthy business that’s been around for more than 30 years and definitely not behind these annoying calls.
