I just picked up a call from a lady with an Asian accent who called herself Jennifer. She told me my phone was going to be upgraded tomorrow to block all these annoying calls (which is pretty funny if you ask me). She kept going on about how I wouldn’t get any more nuisance calls or emails, so I decided to ask her which company I use for my phone. She said British Telecom. I told her that’s wrong! Clearly, this was a dodgy call, so I ended it there. It’s ridiculous - now these scammers are trying to sell you stuff by pretending they can stop scam calls!

Got a call from someone claiming to help stop nuisance calls, weirdly they already had my full name, address, and number. Then they asked if I pay my bills by direct debit, and when I said no, they just ended the call. Honestly, be cautious with these folks.

Got a call from 01217900867, the person on the line had an Asian accent and asked for my missus by name. I put it on speaker to listen in properly. He said he was from something called BT Outreach and that we were due a new phone to block spam calls. Claimed an engineer would come round in a couple of weeks to set it up. I wasn’t convinced and told him no company just hands out phones for free. He got a bit irked and said there’d be just a single fee and then all calls would be free after that. Then he insisted on speaking to my wife again but I just ended the call.

I got a call to my elderly folks from someone saying he was with a firm called Maxtalk, trying to push a BT call blocking phone on them for £120. Funny thing is, the exact model sells on Amazon for around £28. The guy asked for their bank DD info but they gave him credit card details by mistake. Thankfully, they had second thoughts and rang their card provider straight away to stop the payment. Just a heads up if you get a call from a Mike Wilson with an Asian accent!
