Got a call from an Asian guy claiming it was about nuisance calls and that he needed to refresh my info to keep the service going. Then he asked me for the expiry date on my credit card. I told him I use direct debit and to basically get lost. Ended up blocking the number straight away.

Got a call from a woman with an Asian accent saying I was owed a refund from Sky. Thing is, I've never had anything to do with Sky. When I mentioned that, she didn’t seem to care much. She then wanted my details, but I told her she should already have them. Oddly enough, she knew my full name and where I live. Then she pushed for my debit card expiry date, even after I made it clear I wouldn’t be giving any bank info. I told her to just post me a cheque instead. Honestly, I’m not expecting much from this.

I was greeted with a robotic voice of a bloke, prompting me to sign up for some sort of enhanced service. They didn’t identify themselves at all, which makes me think it’s probably a scam.

Some bloke rang me claiming he worked for some dept that handles annoying calls. He said his job was to put an end to those pesky calls. He wanted my full name and even how to say it properly. Then he asked if I pay my bill by direct debit. When I asked why that mattered, he just hung up on me. A few mins later, I got a call from a random international mobile number, and as soon as I answered, the line just cut off. Looks like a total scam, so watch out!

An Asian woman reached out to me, addressing me by name, aware of my address and contact details. She claimed to be from a company dedicated to halting unwanted calls. Then she requested me to verify if my Visa card commenced with a 4. I firmly responded that I would never disclose my card information, after which she abruptly ended the call. Just thought I'd share this in case it proves useful!

What’s really odd about this number is they usually ring when no one’s home, yet my phone somehow records an outgoing call to 0121 790 0746 from an unknown person, even though we weren’t there. It’s confusing because the call shows up as made from my device, but it’s actually coming from that 0121 790 0746 number. If you try to ring back after getting home, you’ll just hear some American-accented voice say “3 minute bell” - that’s when it clicks it’s a scam and you just mash the hang-up button. Don’t bother calling back, it’s just a con.

Even though I've blocked this number, they seem determined and keep ringing me almost daily! Just a heads up for anyone with B.T. - you can head over to the Call Protect section on the B.T. dashboard, then hit "Received Calls" in the top left corner. It shows all the calls you've got, including the ones they've blocked, but these are marked differently with a little bullet point next to them.

This number has called me quite a few times, each time pretending to be from different places like Microsoft or some firm that claims they can block spam calls. The best one was today. The caller said, "Hello, am I speaking to Mr #######?" I replied, "Yes." Then they said, "This is Edward from Goldsmiths, are you bothered by lots of nuisance calls?" I answered, "Yeah." Then he just said, "That's a shame," and promptly ended the call. Proper weird!
