Got a call from someone with a foreign accent, asking for the old account holder by name. Reckon they might have had that number on some dodgy list. Told them no one by that name’s been here for ages, like over two years. They said sorry and then just hung up.

I just had a call from some bloke with a foreign accent claiming to be from Telephone MANAGEMENT services - said they’re linked to TPS but not actually part of it. When I asked him if he felt bad messing people about, he bragged about conning £2000 just yesterday and said he slept like a baby. I told him I hoped he burns in hell and then ended the call.

Like loads of others have mentioned, this person said they were from the telephone preference service and wanted to check my bank details for the direct debit I use to pay my phone bill. They seemed to work out, or take a good guess at, my card expiry date but once they asked for more info, I quickly told them no way.

Some bloke with an Indian accent rang me today about 2.30 pm claiming his name was Ricky, yeah right, like I’m the Queen of England or summat. He said he was from the TPS and was gonna sort out all the annoying calls I get. So I decided to mess about with him for as long as I could, proper laugh! He wasn’t too chuffed towards the end and ended up calling me a few nasty names, but honestly, it didn’t bother me one bit. Honestly, I find it hilarious winding these lot up - you lot should give it a go, proper good fun!

05/12/2018 Called from 01217900280 by a man with an Indian accent, very polite and said he represented BT telephone preference service. Claimed I was already on their list and guaranteed to stop all scam and spam calls for me. Asked if I was X, if I lived at X address, if I paid my phone bill by direct debit and if the card ended in 2020? I said no, he urged me to check, said it was a Visa and the first digit was 4. I ended the call. But he already had loads of personal info about me and even knew the full name on the card.

This guy called, sounded like he had an Asian accent, said his name was Jack and he was ringing from Max Talk. He was really polite and friendly. Coppers say the 0121 code is like a 'phantom' number used to hide the fact the scammers likely aren't operating from the UK, so they're tricky to track down and close. Whether you’ve fallen for it or not, everyone’s told to report it through the Police’s online 'Action Fraud' site [www.actionfraud.police.uk]. A police agent even mentioned she used the AF system herself and found it a bit 'complicated,' but definitely worth the effort. She knows of cases where people abroad were taken to court years later thanks to information passed on to 'Action Fraud'.

I had a rather similar experience to many others. An Indian woman contacted me and claimed that they were aware of all the phone numbers of my acquaintances I wished to stay connected with. When I questioned how they obtained such information, she mentioned that they kept a record of all the cold-calling numbers. Naturally, I pressed for further clarification, at which point she abruptly ended the call. It’s clearly a scam, pure and simple!

Got another ring from this number claiming they can stop nuisance calls!!! I wasn’t in when they called but I got the number off 1471 and this is at least the eighth time this week that they’ve tried. Why aren’t the authorities looking into these lots and taking them to court?!! Got a call from someone named 'Vic' claiming to be from 'Max Doc'. He said our landline phone was old and that they'd be sending a new one soon which supposedly helps older folks and stops spam calls. I hung up when I asked why they cold called me since we’re on the TPS list.

An Indian woman called me under the pretense of helping to stop pesky calls. She requested the four digit PIN linked to my card, but I refused to share that information. Interestingly, she claimed she was already aware of it. When I challenged her to provide it herself, she hesitated, saying she couldn't confirm my identity. Then, she asked for my sort code - she correctly mentioned the first two digits, but when it came to the third, she got it wrong. At that point, I decided I'd had enough and ended the call.

Got called twice by this number in just a few hours, first a guy then a lady saying they could stop unwanted marketing calls. When I asked who they worked for, they just hung up. Seems like a scam to me.

I got a call from this number where the person was asking for my bank details. When I told them I wasn't familiar with them, they insisted I should fetch my information. At that point, I decided to hang up.

I got a call from an Asian woman who said she was here to deal with nuisance calls and promised to put a stop to them. Then she started asking me how I pay my bills and even wanted my card details. I told her to buzz off straight away, and she just hung up.

A guy with an Indian accent, sounded exactly like the others mentioned. Told me to GET LOST and just hung up. Obviously a scam call but since the number’s known, surely the authorities could do something about it and put an end to this?

Got a call, but there was just complete silence on the other end! Pretty weird!

Got a call from an Asian lady (her English was a bit off) saying she was going to put a stop to spam calls on my landline. She had my address and postcode too. She said I pay for the phone by direct debit, I told her no, my husband does (which made me suspicious - if it was legit, she’d know that). When I asked who she was and where she was calling from, she just hung up. Who do these people think they are? This has got scam written all over it.

Got a call from a guy with an Indian accent, he kept messing up my name when he said it. I asked who it was, and he replied asking if I was having a good day. When I pressed again to find out who he was, he began to say his name but then the call suddenly ended!

Got a call from an Asian woman who kept calling me 'love' and tried to calmly tell me she could put an end to annoying calls like hers. Of course, she wanted my debit card’s expiry date. Same rubbish as always. They must honestly believe we’re all daft. I said the word ‘scam’ and the call just cut off - guess that tells you everything!

Got a call from some bloke asking for a person I don’t even know - or at least won’t say it’s me! The guy was just breathing heavily the whole time, not saying a word. Told him maybe he should get checked for asthma, his chest sounded awful hahaha! Complete muppet!!!

I got a call from a guy who said his name was Alex and he claimed he worked for some BT department. He told me we'd stop getting nuisance calls starting tomorrow. Then he started asking if we pay our bills by direct debit and wanted details about our card. My husband ended up speaking to him and discovered he was saying we'd be charged £79. We actually use Virgin, not BT. Definitely a scam, so watch out, folks!

Got a call earlier, same old thing - claiming to be BT but saying they actually work for Virgin. Felt like a sketchy sales tactic to me.
