When I picked up the phone, there was a weird pause before the person spoke. Then, they called me by my name and mentioned something about an ‘online trading account’. It was obvious it was some scam. I’m really curious how they managed to find both my name and phone number.

I got a call from someone claiming to be from a financial trading site, saying I had my info registered with them. The site is real but full of spelling mistakes. I never signed up, and when I asked them for info about when or what I supposedly registered, they couldn’t give me a clear answer. Totally felt like a scam.

somebody rang me up saying they were from the "utilities department" and gave a company name, but it definitely felt fishy. they even used my name to sound legit. I'm sure it was a scam!

Whenever I answered the call, there was nobody there, so I reckon it’s some sort of automated system just making sure your number is real before a scammer rings you. I ended up blocking the number but then, within an hour, I got another call on my mobile from someone trying to pitch online investments. The number that called after was 07227516772.

Got a call from some so-called ‘investment’ firm, instantly blocked it. Usually if a number starts with 44, it’s being forwarded through a UK line but coming from somewhere else. Did the block, but they’ll probably just ring me up from a different one next time. Properly annoying!
