Scam alert. I just answered the phone but kept quiet, then I could hear the typical chatter in the background. After a bloke finally said hello, I didn’t respond and hung up. These calls usually come round the same time every morning and I’m pretty sure they’re scams, so I figured staying silent was best. I checked the number by dialling 1471 and it was suspiciously close to others I’ve had before. Over the years, I’ve jotted down hundreds of phone numbers from these calls, and they always just tweak a few digits each time they ring me.

Got a call telling me there'd been charges on my bank card - about £300 on Amazon and £1300 sent to an account abroad, told to press 1 to talk to someone about it. I just ended the call straight away, but I did have a look at my bank accounts and didn’t see anything unusual at all.

Got a call about 5 days back from someone saying they were conducting a survey on the council. Told them I couldn’t talk as I was driving (even tho I was on hands free when I answered). I blocked the number but they keep ringing every single day. Thankfully my phone just blocks the calls now.

Some woman said she was ringing for the council but wouldn’t give me a number to call back on. She wanted to know the name of the person I used, which was just a fake name I used for an online survey ages ago. I told her that person’s no longer there and to not bother calling again. Ended the call and blocked the number.

Got a call from a woman (this number’s been called before), and when I told her I wasn’t interested and asked why I’m getting calls again, she started shouting at me. So I just hung up. Honestly, leave us alone when we’re at home!!!

I was just out and about when I received a call at 3:53 PM from the same number. They left a voicemail that sounded like a kettle boiling-perhaps they were brewing up a cuppa or a coffee? It seems like they were trying to squeeze in one last drink before heading back for their 2 PM commitments.

I received a call from someone claiming to be conducting a survey for North Wales Police. They appeared to have knowledge of a particular incident that had been reported. However, the same number later rang me again, but this time it was flagged as a spam alert. They called again, yet there was no conversation initiated. I’ve decided that I’ll just disregard any future attempts.

Got a call from a woman with a Chinese accent claiming it was the police calling. The number showed up as from Birmingham (0121), which made me suspicious, so I just said I was busy and ended the call. Not sure if it was legit or not, but she was quite polite all the same.

Not sure! Some folks here reckon it’s a scam, or just a survey or cold call. But if you've got a landline with a call blocker, they gotta ID themselves first before you pick up or hang up. I’ve never actually had one get through to chat, they don’t want to be caught on tape or anything. I only recognised this number cuz my phone showed 1 missed call. If you’re unsure, just say "sorry, not interested" and end the call.

Seems a bit dodgy to me. Got a call from a Birmingham number, but they claimed to be in London. They were on about some so-called medical health service and wanted to know my details to check if I was in need of a security alarm. Definitely raises a few red flags!

M-E-L - They’re a market research firm that focuses on customer satisfaction. I got a call from them about an issue I raised with the water company. The call was totally genuine and it actually gave me a chance to say nice things about the Consumer Council for Water who assisted me. Just wish there was anything like that for the NHS. Seems like they couldn’t care less about our opinions.

A guy rang this number about my recent water issue (which was legit), he said he was with MEL Research, not the water regulator I’d been dealing with. He shared the MEL Research website and stuff. Had a chat with him, he gave some useful tips and was really helpful.

A very polite woman claimed to be from the police doing a survey. She wanted info about cars speeding on the road. The connection was rubbish so I asked if she could ring my mobile instead, but she said they only call landlines which struck me as odd. This is the second time she’s phoned so I’m gonna block the number now.
