Got quite a few calls today saying my internet would be disconnected, and they wanted me to press 1 to stop it. Weird and a bit worrying!

Had a very similar call, but no police threats in my case! It was a recorded voice with an American accent pretending to be BT. They said there was 'malware detected on my internet' and told me to press 1. I just ended the call straight away.

Got a voicemail from someone with an American accent claiming to be BT, saying there were suspicious activities linked to my address. They warned me the police would be sent and I'd be arrested unless I hit '1' immediately! Please warn elderly and vulnerable folks about this trick - they might freak out and press '1' just to clear their name. For reference, the number used was 01217774721.
