Nearly fell for this scam myself. My internet has been really slow lately, so I thought what they said might be true. Foolishly, I followed some of their instructions to test my connection. Things felt off when they wanted me to give them my internet account info to "claim compensation." Then my mouse started moving weirdly on its own, which really made me think they were messing with my PC. I’ve switched a few passwords just in case, but luckily they didn't manage to get in. Still, they sounded super believable.

This was a complete rip-off. I just got a rather dodgy call from someone claiming to be with BT Open Reach, saying they were following up on some internet issues I'd mentioned to BT. The chap on the other end asked me to visit speedtest.com through Google to check my connection speed. Once I rattled off the results, he abruptly ended the call. I was waiting to hear from my solicitor, so I picked up when the phone rang. The person asked, "Can I talk to the owner of this number?" I replied, "Who’s this?" and then the line went dead.
