I received a rather unsettling phone call from a chap claiming to be discussing home safety. He had both my name and number, even though I've been ex-directory for ages. He mentioned he was contacting everyone in my area. Given that I’m not listed on the electoral roll and my number has always been private, it begs the question: how on earth did they obtain my information? I've taken the step of reporting this to the authorities.

someone called me about home security stuff. they had my number and name, even tho i've been ex-directory for ages. they said they were ringing everyone around my area. i'm not on the open electoral register, so how on earth did they find me? already told the police about it.
