Got a call from some foreign woman, maybe Asian but not Indian, asking for someone who apparently used to have this number years ago. The number’s been unlisted for over 5 years now. I heard loads of noise like a busy call centre behind her. When I told her the number is ex-directory and asked who she was and what she wanted, she just stayed silent and then ended the call.

Got a call on the 14th of May 2019 at about 10 in the morning, then again on the 16th just after midday. The person on the other end was an elderly, vulnerable individual. I picked up this time and said "hello" three times but no reply, so I ended the call. After looking at what others have said, I'm really relieved we didn’t actually speak to anyone!

This phone number keeps ringing me several times daily, nearly every day. Whenever I pick up or the answer machine kicks in, they just hang up straight away. I rarely pick up calls from numbers I don’t recognise and sometimes I can’t get to the phone quickly because of my disability - people who know me usually ring a couple of times so I can catch the call. It’s really frustrating having to get up to answer only to find it’s some telemarketer or scammer. They have no idea I’m disabled, but it’d be nice if they’d consider that before bugging me nonstop like this.

They claimed to be "Cover Domestic" and used a fake Birmingham number. Since I'm registered with TPS, I was instantly suspicious. Do these people actually sell anything? Surely by now most folks are wise to these "appliance cover" scams. Seems like they’re just going after older people or those who don’t keep up with the news.

This was the first time I received a call from a lady with an Asian accent who asked for me by name. She then went on to ask if I was in charge of electrical appliances in my house, which seemed odd. Curious, I asked her why she wanted to know, and she said she had info suggesting I was overspending on my electrical warranties. I didn’t recognise the number at all - even tho’ I know 0121 is Birmingham, I wasn’t expecting anyone from there to ring me. So I just let it go straight to voicemail, but the person ended up hanging up before leaving a message. After checking what others have said about the same number, it seems like it’s just another scam call. Shame there’s so many people out trying this stuff!

Someone rang me about some kitchen insurance, asked who I was and my address. When I asked them the same, they refused to say, telling me it wasn’t allowed. I pointed out how they wanted my details but wouldn’t give me theirs. They claimed to be calling from Birmingham but still wouldn’t confirm. So I got a call from a bloke with a Welsh accent, and you could hear a lot of noise like a call centre buzzing in the background. He asked straight away for me by name, which I found a bit odd. I asked who he was first, and said I might get the person he wanted if he told me who he was. Then he started saying something like he was covering a "domestic breakdown in the kitchen" or something daft like that. I flipped the script on him and he actually just said thanks quite nicely before hanging up. Definitely a scam, no doubt about it.
