I played along and showed some interest, and then they hit me with a £246 charge to chase the "claim" they’d supposedly found for me (total nonsense). That’s when I ended the call. I’m not, and never have been, a Council tenant so I told them to buzz off. Even though the number looked like it was from Birmingham, I reckon it was actually from somewhere like Lahore or Bangladesh. The woman on the line had a thick Asian accent, started laughing, and rudely told me to get lost.
