01216617447 Summary (Read all comments)

Phone number ☎️ 01216617447 👆 is reported as a persistent and well-organised scam operation posing as a refund service for washing machine or appliance warranties, often using the name "Homecare" or similar. Callers may have personal details like your name and address, which they use to sound credible. They request bank account information under the pretext of issuing refunds, sometimes claiming cheques cannot be sent due to Covid restrictions, and become aggressive or hang up if challenged. Calls often feature foreign accents and background noise indicative of call centres. No legitimate refund has been confirmed, and many victims find the calls intrusive, threatening, or harassing. Authorities advise strongly against sharing any personal or banking details and recommend blocking the number, as this is a clear fraud risk targeting individuals, including vulnerable elderly people.

Saw I had a missed call from this number on 10th May 2022 at about 9:48 in the morning. Didn’t recognise the number at all and they never rang back. Judging by this and what others have said here, I’m pretty sure it was some kind of scam attempt.

Got a call from a man with a foreign accent saying I'd get a refund for washing machine cover. He knew my name and postcode right. When he asked if I wanted the refund into my Current Account or some other account, I asked if he could post me a cheque instead. He said no, it wasn't allowed because of Covid rules. That's when I told him to forget it and keep the cash. He then went on about how I was wasting his time! What a total scammer.

Got a call from someone saying they needed our sort code and account number because we were meant to get a refund for a washing machine. They claimed to be from a firm called Home Care. When I said I wasn’t giving out info over the phone and asked where I could find those numbers myself, they got all awkward. Yeah right, no way I’m just handing that over!

Got a call from some woman working out of an Indian call centre claiming I was owed £119 back for a washing machine guarantee. Problem is, I don’t have any such insurance. Total scam, seriously. Just hang up and never share your info with them.

I got a call supposedly about a refund for washing machine insurance, which I don't even own. I kept them on the line for a good four minutes without sharing any personal info. When I asked them to send a refund by bank cheque, they said it wasn’t possible and tried to get my bank details. That’s when I lost it a bit, gave them a mouthful, and told them exactly what I thought. I actually enjoy wasting their time - it probably costs them cash!

Beware of this dodgy call centre masquerading as a home care service. They've attempted to swindle me by claiming they've overcharged me and want to return the money. These crooks are slick operators, highly skilled in manipulation and utterly relentless. They probably possess your full name and address, yet fail to offer any legitimate details when pressed. They'll request your bank account number and sort code, insisting it's something found on your cheques. It’s crucial that you refrain from divulging any personal information to them; this is all part of a fraudulent scheme.

So today I got a call from a bloke with an English accent telling me the same old tale. When he asked for my DOB, I just said no, and he hung up on me straight away. I was honestly a bit shocked because usually these scammers have a really thick foreign accent, which is what I always expect.

I had a similar experience to what others have reported. An Asian lady was on the line wanting me to verify my information in order to process a £119 refund for a washing machine I never even purchased. She had my name and address, which raised my suspicions immediately. I told her I wouldn’t give out any details and suggested she send me an email instead. That’s when she abruptly ended the call. This number keeps ringing my phone, yet they never bother to leave a voicemail. It’s an unknown caller, and I’ve learned the hard way to take these things with a grain of salt. If they can’t be bothered to drop a message, I’m inclined to think it’s likely a scam, especially since the Telephone Preference Service is being ignored. I did try calling back from my mobile, and lo and behold, I was greeted by some TPS Services nonsense! What a load of rubbish!

My elderly mother, who’s a sprightly 86, received a couple of calls today from someone trying to swindle her into providing her bank details, all under the pretense of refunding her for an overpriced washing machine. Thankfully, she passed the caller on to me, and surprise, surprise - they haven’t bothered to reach out since! The caller had the audacity to keep addressing my mother as 'Ma'am,' which I found rather patronising. During their second conversation, they audaciously instructed her to fetch her cheque book and card, insisting on her sort code, account number, and those dreaded three digits on the back of her card! Mum saw right through their ruse and firmly refused, asserting that just because she’s of a certain age doesn’t mean she’s gullible! It’s absolutely appalling that such scams are allowed to persist. Something surely must be done about this despicable behaviour.

I had a similar experience! An Asian gentleman rang me up, claiming I was due a £119 refund for my washing machine warranty. He had my name and address, which I found rather concerning. Then, he handed me over to his supervisor, another Asian woman. I straightaway queried if she was after my bank details, to which she replied no, they didn’t want my credit card or bank info, but merely my 6-digit sort code and my 8-digit account number. Can you believe that? I asked her if she genuinely thought I was that gullible! She promptly hung up on me. From the moment he started talking, I suspected it was a scam. Normally, I would have just hung up, but I thought I’d see how it unfolded. Just a word of caution-don’t fall for these tricks!

Got a call from 01216617447 claiming they were from some Homecare refund team, saying I was owed £119 back on a washing machine warranty I never even bought. They asked if I wanted the money in my savings or current account. I joked, "How about sending me a cheque then?" The bloke said, "Sorry, we don't do cheques." Because of this pandemic, they can’t send me a cheque and want to just put the money as a credit on my account. I told them I never bought it on credit and then they just ended the call on me. Total SCAM, don’t fall for it!

This number rang and when I said hello, the guy took ages to reply. Didn’t feel right, so I just ended the call. Hate those scam calls and have no clue who it was.

Got a call from some call centre, could hear people chatting in the background. The guy, who had a bit of a foreign accent, claimed i was owed a refund of £197. I told him straight up it was dodgy and that i'd be reporting it.

I got a call from someone who was really pushy, trying to get me to confirm my bank details and sort code, claiming I was owed a refund. When I told them to just send a cheque instead, they suddenly ended the call. Seemed a bit dodgy to me.

Got a call from 01216617447 claiming I was owed a refund for some insurance overcharge, but they couldn’t explain the details or who they were. I told them I bet they’d want my bank details, but they said no. Still, I just ended the call. This kind of thing really worries me - I reckon vulnerable folks might easily get caught out by it. The government really ought to step in and sort this out.

Got a call from 0121 661 7447, like others have mentioned. They said they were from a firm called 'Homecare' offering a refund of £119 on white goods and needed to verify my info. I had indeed bought something from them before and they had my name and address, which felt a bit dodgy. When I asked what the refund related to, she said 'washing machine'. Told her I've had mine for 5 years now. She said 'We never said when you bought it.' I told her to email me the details instead. Then she just ended the call. Total scam!

Got a call from some bloke saying I was due a £119 refund on a washing machine warranty. Thing is, I haven’t had any extra cover on my washing machine for ages, like a few years at least. I told him I didn’t buy that and reckoned it was just a scam to nick my bank info, then I ended the call. This is actually the second time I’ve had a call like this in just a week.

Just like what others have mentioned, I received a dodgy call regarding a refund for a washing machine warranty. They had my name and address, but then they started prying for my bank sort code, claiming it was necessary to send me a cheque. I instinctively knew this was a scam. The person on the other end was rather rude and confrontational, so I chose to end the conversation.

I got a call from someone who spoke quite nicely, but it was clear English wasn't their first language. They claimed I was owed £119 back from, I think, Home Care or something like that. I found it funny since it was a familiar story, almost like the many other calls I've had lately. The man didn't take it well at all; he started calling me a psychopath and suggested I should get checked out by a doctor before hanging up.

I got a call about supposedly refunding me £189 for an overcharge on my washing machine insurance. At first, I thought it was a scam. The lady asked if I still lived at the same address, which I confirmed, then she wanted to know where I wanted the refund sent. I said my current account, so she asked for my account number and ID details. I told her that since she already had my address, she could just post a cheque instead. That’s when she started yelling, saying she wasn’t asking for my personal info. I told her not to speak to me like that and just hung up.

I got a call about refunding £119 for washing machine insurance. The English was quite decent, but I could hear loads of noise in the background from the call centre. I pretended to go along with it for a bit, but when I refused to share my sort code and other details, despite telling them many times, I got passed on to someone else. This new guy wasn’t very patient and ended up saying he’d just donate the money to charity.

Got a call a moment ago from someone saying I was owed money back on a washing machine. Thing is, I haven’t bought one in donkeys years. I asked if they were going to want my bank info to send the refund and sure enough, they said yes. I simply told them to jog on, didn’t hang about with any of that nonsense!

I'm reporting this site as it seems to be fishing for bank information under the guise of issuing refunds, just like others have mentioned. It’s nothing more than a complete scam! Whoever is behind this should be utterly ashamed of themselves. We really need better safeguards for our elderly population against such trickery.

I've had a similar experience regarding a refund for my washing machine warranty. It clearly smells like a scam! Just imagine if these so-called 'entrepreneurs' were targeting the phone providers instead of innocent customers-things would get resolved in a jiffy, wouldn’t they? It's frustrating to think how swiftly they’d act if they were on the receiving end!

Received a call from someone claiming they were processing a warranty refund from 2019 under my mother’s name, despite her having passed away in 2017. I requested to speak with a supervisor, but they abruptly hung up on me. It's appalling how relentless these folks are; they've rung me multiple times. Truly despicable behaviour!

Crikey, here we go again with another dodgy washing machine refund con artist! I asked him to send me a cheque through the post, but he flat out refused. So, I didn't hold back and let him know exactly how I felt in a rather direct way. Looks like he finally took the hint!

This number keeps ringing me but never bothers to leave a message. It's one of those unrecognised digits. I tend to think it's a scam if they can't be bothered to drop a voicemail, especially since I'm on the Telephone Preference Service list!

I had a rather concerning encounter where a woman purporting to represent a homecare service contacted my elderly parents. She informed them that they’d mistakenly processed a payment. However, when we pressed her for details on what services were supposedly provided, she abruptly hung up. It's quite alarming because she was asking for their bank information.

I ended the call right when the bloke started talking. It was pretty early, before 9 in the morning. Honestly, these calls feel more like harassment, maybe even a bit risky. There’s almost one every day! I really wish something could be done to put an end to these annoying calls.

I just got a call about a washing machine warranty and they were saying I could get a refund or something. Sounded a bit dodgy to me, like one of those scams. Didn’t really make much sense, so I just hung up. Watch out for these kind of calls, they try to sound all official but I’m not buying it!

I just had a rather odd phone call from these people claiming to be from a service related to an overpayment on a washing machine warranty. Honestly, I wasn’t even aware of having any coverage considering my machine is over a decade old! They had all my details-name and address-so I suggested they refund me to the same account from which I initially paid. The representative claimed they don’t keep account numbers, which struck me as rather dodgy. I then asked for a cheque to be sent to my address since they already had my details. Predictably, the conversation ended abruptly with him hanging up. Makes me think there’s little chance I’ll see that cheque now! Just a heads up to everyone-stay vigilant and never share your bank or card information over the phone!

I got a call from a woman claiming to be with some home care service saying they wanted to give my mum back £119. Then she handed me over to a bloke who only said "hello" before asking for our bank info. I told him no straight away. He kept insisting I just look at the cheque book and read out the account number and sort code. I plainly said I don’t share those details on calls and told him I’d be checking the number myself.

I got a call about a refund for my washing machine insurance, but this was the third time I’d had a call like this. When I told the bloke that, he just ended the call. They were offering over £100 back, which is more than I even paid for the insurance. Seems like a dodgy deal that might fool someone less careful.

Got a call early this morning from a woman claiming I was owed a refund from Home Care for a washing machine insurance they’d charged me too much for. She said she didn’t need my card info, just my bank details to pay me back. When I asked if she could post me a cheque instead, she said that would cancel the refund. So I asked for the company’s info because I wanted to take legal action for withholding my refund. Then the call just suddenly disconnected.

This bloke named Cedric phoned up, claiming we were owed £119 because of some glitch in their accounts from last September. He wanted our details straight away so they could send the money today. He mentioned their Head Office was at 16 Dutley Road, Leeds, LS37 5GQ, and gave a mobile number 07793825091. I told him off for calling me “love” and he kept apologising every time I said I wasn’t. We told him to send any refund info through the post instead. Of course, it all felt like a dodgy scam straight away.
