Got a call out of the blue saying I’d made it into the last round of some TV wordsearch competition I took part in a few weeks back. The woman on the phone said I needed to send £1.95 for postage on some sort of tickets they were supposedly sending as a runner-up prize. She even said she’d wait if I didn’t have my bank card nearby! Yeah, right! I wasn’t buying it.

I got a strange call today, where they requested payment for postal charges related to some TV competition puzzle entry. To add to the oddity, I’ve also received a letter confirming that I've been selected for the final draw of a puzzle I foolishly entered online just before Christmas. The phone number from which the call originated is 01216613931, and the date of the call was the 12th of January 2023. It all seems rather dubious!
