I was under the impression that cold calling was strictly off-limits for UK companies, especially those based abroad but collaborating with UK firms. Yet, I keep receiving calls on standard phone lines, as well as from survey outfits reaching out via mobile or those automated systems that dial multiple numbers at once. They seem to only connect when someone picks up, then they silence the other calls until they need to speak to another victim. Why are these businesses flouting the regulations? Got a call from someone claiming to be ADT Alarms, saying there’s a grant and it’s all free. They sent me an email while I was on the line, asking me to fill something out. She said the only charge was a quid, but when I looked closely it said £30 a month. I asked why the difference, and she brushed it off as a mistake. I told her to ring me back once I’d decided, but she never did - probably because I was asking loads of questions and wouldn't fill in the form straight away while she sat there waiting.

Yesterday I got five missed calls from this number. Didn’t leave any voicemail. I ignored the rest after the first one. Then just now, in the past 30 minutes, it called again two times and I blocked those as well.
