9 yearsThis is the second time they’ve tried reaching out to me. The first time, I left a comment and the caller promptly hung up. On the second occasion, I decided to hear him out. He knew my full name and address and questioned if I was the one responsible for the bill. He mentioned that my number was inundated with nuisance calls and claimed they could put it on a special list to stop them for good. Then, rather suspiciously, he brought up the expiry date on my credit or debit card, asking if I could verify it. I told him outright that I wouldn’t share such information, as I’d prefer to just unplug my phone altogether given how often my mobile is hit with calls. He kept probing, and I asked him if he genuinely thought I was foolish enough to divulge personal details to a stranger. I pointed out that this smacked of a scam.
