At first, there was nothing but silence when I answered, then after I'd yelled 'hello' a few times, the bloke finally said who he was - some Matthew, talking about a government-backed lagging program. He was trying to make it sound like we’d asked him to call us, which was rubbish. I put my foot down and told him to scram and erase our number, we weren’t having any of it. Honestly, just because we’ve given out our phone number a bunch recently for 'track & trace' doesn’t mean we wanted this call.

I got a call from some clever automated voice about loft insulation. It kicked off by saying it was returning a previous call, which was totally false. Then the bot bombarded me with loads of questions, all aimed at arranging a visit to replace existing insulation with spray stuff on the rafters. As a building surveyor myself, I know that spray insulation is actually one of the poorest options and can lead to serious condensation issues, not to mention making it tricky to get a mortgage on the property. Honestly, these lot are just trying to take advantage and scam people.
