They asked if I had made any recent purchases, to which I replied that we hadn't bought anything from them in the last couple of years. The caller then requested my address. I only provided the first line and mentioned that I was jotting down our conversation. Upon checking, he indicated that the address didn’t match what he had in his database. I decided to end the conversation right there.

The caller not only knew my name but also had information about a recent order I'd made with Currys, which was quite unsettling. When I inquired about which branch he was calling from, the chap abruptly ended the call. I can only presume it’s a scam aimed at fishing for personal information. It’s likely they’re after financial details too, especially if you consider opting for any kind of protection plan. Quite the dodgy business, I daresay!

I didn’t answer as I was busy with something else then. No voicemail left, so I guessed it was just a spam call. Looking up this number, it seems others got calls from Currys PCWorld and one person was offered an extended warranty for products bought online, probably from Currys PC World too. I actually bought something from them online yesterday and didn’t opt for any extra warranty, so maybe that’s why they phoned. Leaving a voicemail would have been nicer, even though I’m not interested in the extended warranty!

That's precisely what unfolded. They requested me to verify my address and date of birth, which I unwittingly did-my error, really. I was under the impression they were genuinely Currys, seeing as they had details of my order and the date I made it. They even attempted to pitch me a warranty, to which I replied that I would ponder it and prefer to visit the shop for the purchase.

Just had a rather pushy experience trying to sell me a protection plan for something I’ve just bought. I had already turned it down during checkout, but they really wouldn’t take no for an answer. It’s clear that these plans are quite profitable for Currys, even more so than the actual item I just bought. Quite the sales tactic, I must say!
