When I sought clarification on where she hailed from, she repeated herself, but didn’t afford me another moment to say that I still hadn’t a clue about the company she represented. She launched into what sounded like a rehearsed spiel, yet it felt more like she was speaking over me rather than with me. The second time I interjected, expressing my confusion about who she was, she responded with an incredulous “Oh my goodness” and promptly disconnected! The only word I caught was ‘network’. Quite a strange interaction, indeed!5 yearsI received a call from someone with a lovely Welsh accent who claimed to be with AIG life insurance. They mentioned that it was time to renew my policy at a lower rate, but they insisted on needing my bank information-specifically sort codes and other details, but not my full card number. To test the waters, I provided some made-up details to gauge how far they’d go. It’s clearly a dodgy scam; I don’t even have an insurance policy with AIG! They're just fishing for personal banking info.
