Got a call from someone claiming to be with Talk Talk, said there was unusual activity on my email accounts. I actually work in IT in a pretty senior role. Even though it was hard to make out what he was saying, he carried on with the story. I told him straight that there’s no chance he’s with Talk Talk and he should find a legit job instead of doing dodgy scams.

Got a call from this number at 5.46am - way too early and honestly quite unsettling to get such an early morning ring.

Received a call from a Dublin number. Not a peep from them, and I can't return the call. Strangely enough, earlier today I had a dodgy call pretending to be from my internet provider. Could there be a connection between the two?

This number keeps ringing and then hanging up straight away. When I finally picked up, a woman called ‘Janet’ with an Indian accent was asking for a ‘Mrs Lynda’ (very suspicious). She said she needed our credit card info (yeah, right) to stop the calls. I just ended the call and rang my phone provider who said they never ask for that kind of info and it’s definitely a scam. Best just to block the number if it tries you.

My mum got a voicemail from them, so I rang back. They never asked for her NI number, DOB, or to confirm where she lives. They just said there’s some investigation because she didn’t pay her taxes, and she needs to get a lawyer. Felt a bit off that HMRC would say all that without following any data protection checks, especially with all the GDPR rules nowadays.

Got a call from this number, automated voice saying it was Officer Sarah Wilson, just like others said before. It was really intimidating, imagine how scared an older person would be hearing that. They really ought to be fined and banned from ringing up random people like this.

02081337189 proper freaked me out, I thought I was in some kind of trouble! The caller said they were from HMRC and I had to ring back with a lawyer or face the consequences. Sounds like loads of folks are getting these calls now, really not a great way to kick off the morning, especially at 7.45am. Surely HMRC wouldn’t do things like this?

They said they're from the British Lifestyle Survey or maybe UK Lifestyle Survey, but it definitely sounded like the number was from India. Kept insisting it was just a survey, but it felt like they were really trying to gather info for marketing stuff. When I asked why they ignore the TPS register, they just wouldn't answer.

I got a call saying I’d be arrested in 2 hours and have to appear in court. I got a bit wary and they said they’d ring me again. The next call came from a number that matched the official HMRC number I saw on a government website.

Got a robo call claiming to be from the hmre - that’s not how they normally get in touch, so I’m pretty sure it’s a scam. Still, I can see how older folks or anyone not familiar with hmre might fall for it.

Got a call supposedly from HMRC, said I or my solicitor needed to get in touch right away. They gave a name, something like Officer Patricia, but I can't recall the last name.

Got a recorded call warning not to hang up, says it’s from HMRC. When they called the number back, they got told they owed money and must sort it before midday or face court. Happened to my old neighbours. Best not to call back.

Number showed up as unknown. It hung up before I had chance to answer (my phone rang about six times). Seems like it's an auto dialler going through a list of numbers. Probably a ring back scam to get you to call a premium number or maybe just a bot failing to connect you to a real scammer. Best not ring back at all.
