Got a call about pcp today. I asked where she’d got my info from and she said she was with GDPR. When I pressed her on it, she claimed her firm purchased my details from GDPR. I didn’t confirm or share anything with her. She got quite annoyed but eventually said she’d take my details off their list when I insisted. Now just waiting to see which marketing lists I end up on next.

Make sure to report any scam you come across. I looked up ‘voice cloning scams’ and found some warnings from the cops. Apparently, scammers only require a few seconds of your speech to cause trouble for years to come. Watch out for every way they might snag your voice: chatting with shady callers; leaving your own message on your voicemail; ringing back numbers you don’t know (never a wise move anyway); and posting recordings or pics of yourself online (your clone might even video chat using those!). Stay sharp and protect yourself.

I've heard that PCP scams have strong connections with criminals based in the UK, definitely.

Honestly, no need to stress about me, I’ve got this under control. If you don’t have anything useful about the number, best to stay quiet. Don’t bother telling me to report it - I’m well aware, and it never really leads anywhere.

That post in red looks like it’s from someone running a scam. You’ll often find scams about building repairs or loft insulation coming from Asia, but they’re connected to gangs operating here in the UK. The scammers don’t want people across the country reporting calls to the police or OfCom, which the previous government set up to track and fight these frauds. Also, voice cloning scams are seriously risky and probably the worst new threat to our phones. Make sure you know how to spot and stay clear of those too.

Look up ‘voice cloning scams’ online - you might have gotten caught up in one! There’s plenty of advice from the police and info on the web about this super risky AI tech that scammers use alongside their usual tricks to steal money. They only need a few seconds of your voice to do the damage. Also, search for 7726 and email '[email protected]' to find out how to report these scams properly.

Got a call from a woman just a few minutes back. She somehow had my name and my car info. Asked if I was financing the car. She said if that's the case, I should be expecting £900. I told her to just post me the cheque, but she kept asking if the car was mine and if it had finance on it. I wasn’t giving her any details, kept telling her to send the cheque. After a while, she sounded annoyed, said I wouldn't be getting any money, then got rude and ended the call abruptly.

Got a recorded message from some unknown company about booking appointments for home repairs, but they didn’t say much else. Strange how vague it was.

My phone showed a call coming in at half past twelve. I reckoned it was some dodgy scam so I just left it ring out and no voicemail was left either.

The number came up flagged as suspected spam, so I just ignored the call. They didn’t leave a voicemail or anything, so I went ahead and blocked it.

This woman with a foreign accent kept using my first name, even after I asked her politely to call me Mrs followed by my last name since we were strangers. She just blanked me and went on with her scripted spiel, so I cut her off and ended the call straight away.

I picked up and it was someone trying to push dodgy finance stuff. When he began asking me bank details and stuff, I just shut it down and told him to send me an email instead. Still waiting on that email though, so I reckon it was a scam and I’ve blocked the number now.
